Food security
Food security, one of the significant challenges facing the global village, has attracted the attention of several diverse players both in the public and private sectors, nationally and internationally. Economic crisis, adverse climatic changes, and poverty being the leading causes of national disasters facing Kenya, hunger, and shortage of food has always been the aftermath of these national disasters. Kenya is one of the developing countries around the globe; disasters such as food insecurity have been a major cause of derailed economic growth.
The scientific and technological communities have a crucial role in; Providing tactical investments in establishing weather resilient agricultural systems, developing supply chains that easily affordable, coming up with ways of making good use of resources, and develop public knowledge for achieving and sustaining food security.
Governance, societal movements and conflicts, food systems, weather changes, and inadequate market regulations have been comprehensively discussed in different scholarly articles issuing substantial remedies to food security threats in the country. In comparison, little awareness has been issued in ways that science, technology, and innovation can contribute to address and curb the immense bites brought about by food shortage calamities. However, using technology in controlling8 food shortages requires human capital, knowledge, infrastructure, research, and development. Regional and national collaborations, technical foresight and assessment are vital values in achieving an innovative agricultural environment
This paper delineates scientific and innovative contributions that are critical in solving food security calamities from the perspective of climate change, food accessibility, food production, and food shortage that have been witnessed over the past years in Kenya.
