The epic is a spectacular piece of art, and it is very much identical to the film, fort apache. Homer was one of the best authors of his time as John Ford was a renowned film director who made the film Fort Apache that is almost an exact copy of the epic, Iliad. Both the poem and film have similar themes, such as heroism, pride, honor, and reputation. The characters in both of these pieces of art have similar characteristics. The storylines connect Colonel Thursday to Agamemnon, telegraphs to ships, he wagons to the greek and Trojan chariots, The scouting party to Diomedes, and Captain York to Achilles.
The theme of heroism is seen in both the epic and Ford Apache. Iliad hows the theme of heroism as well as Fort Apache. When someone talks about a hero, what comes in mind is someone smart, strong, selfless, and presents humanitarian behavior towards others. An example of a hero in the epic is Akhilleus, who is commonly known as Achilles. Achilles’ struggles are based on his belief in an honor system. In Fort Apache, the heroic character is seen in John Wayne, who is a captain who looks out for his men.
Another similarity that is seen in both the Iliad and Fort Apache is an honor. Achilles struggles to protect his people based on his belief in honor. In Fort Apache, the honor in John Wayne leads him to look out for his warriors all through the war. There is a significant similarity in the characters in both the Iliad and Fort Apache. Both main characters have the desire to bring peace, and they both have humanitarian behaviors.
