Fundamentals in Building Healthy Relationships

Intentional interviewing, counseling, and psychotherapy is a concept which is a more intensive and personal process. It involves listening and understanding a client’s life experience and coming up with strategies for solving the situation. The exciting part about this concept is that it helps in knowing what an individual is going through by interviewing the person hence obtaining basic facts and information. I want to learn more about the similarities and differences in interviewing, counseling, and psychotherapy. The concept helps to make a profound impact on individual lives by navigating difficult life situations such as complicated relationships, especially to teenagers.

Interviewing, counseling, and psychotherapy are all about creating a strong relationship with clients, therefore empowering them to obtain mental health and achieve their goals. However, through intentional counseling techniques and understanding of human nature, a client can be guided to reach maximum mental health. Given many possibilities of service, I would choose Marriage and Family Counselors because, in the current century, most marriages are going through depressions. I prefer to work in a private practice sector because I would be able to attend to different clientele which includes but not limited to substance abuse clinic, inpatient hospital, college counseling services, etc. working time is also flexible since I can choose to work during the day or evening and weekends hence available to all people including the employed.

In the field of mental health, health care imbalance predominates the health facility. Therefore, a policy should be invented to effectively handle health care disparities with good advancing strategies. My role to improving mental health care and well-being of the society is to provide a stable environment sensitive to children’s health and nutrition needs, support life skills programs, social support to the elderly population, psycho-social interventions after disasters, mental health intervention at school and workplaces, and promote community development programs.

Being a multicultural person, I would research my clients’ multicultural background, which will enable a better understanding of their uniqueness fully, hence establishing a good client relationship. Multicultural differences can be managed through teamwork, modeling the right behavior, awareness, and communication by keeping an open mind. The RESPECTFUL model enables us to discover several voices that clients bring on board. Privilege is the power given to people through cultural assumptions and stereotypes. My areas of privilege include religion, ethnicity, family background, and location of residence, while fewer privilege areas include economic background, personal style, and education, lifespan status, and unique physical characteristics. Much association favoritism is more of a function of prejudice towards specific class than negative feelings towards other groups. It affects those who are different because clear emotions such as adoration, empathy, and assurance are reserved for the in-group. The resilient individual react to life’s challenges one on one instead of falling into despair with unhealthy coping experience.
