Genre Project Assignment
For your presentation, you will choose a text that has been assigned on our class calendar or poetry reading list and “translate” it into another genre. For example, if the original text is a poem, you could turn it into a short story or a script for reader’s theater; if the original text is a short story, you might create a poem or a script. Remember to follow the accepted conventions of your chosen form – for example, poems must be written in stanzas and employ rhetorical devices common to poetry (metaphors, imagery, etc.) Scripts must be written as a play would be (check our text).
The adaptation of your chosen text must be submitted as a document or a PowerPoint, whichever fits best with the genre you choose. You may be as creative as you wish, while staying true to the original text.
You will be graded on:
- Creativity and originality (you must do something that has not been done)
- Following the conventions of your chosen genre (eg – a script must be written in the format of a script, a poem as a recognizable form of poetry, etc.)
- Effectiveness of adaptation (conveying the main idea of the original text)[unique_solution]Genre Project Assignment
