George Bernard Shaw has motivated me with his wise words – the people who get on in this world are the people who get up and look for the circumstances they want and if they can’t find them, make them. These words provoke me to take responsibility for the revered goal of making the world a better place. I am inspired to embrace my dreams and fly higher while also supporting others. We live in a world of numerous challenges. Still, these words opened my eyes to a new approach where every problem offers greater opportunity – in developing and advancing the people around me as well as myself. The approach has greatly influenced my decision to proceed in my endeavor to create opportunities by running for House Representative.
A briefcase of clothes and a couple of dollars was all I had when I came to America. Although I had so little materially, I had two significant assets, hope, and faith. The hope was that my life would get better and faith in the American dream. Its pursuit was etched in my heart – I had one goal that I aspired and set my heart on, growing the community around me and myself. Notably, my passion for driving significant impact for the common good has been a part of me for a long time. The dream of living for a cause higher than mine has been a purpose that drives my daily life. American life and society were vital in my self-discovery. It simplified me, and as an immigrant, only one obstacle lies between myself and my dream – having a purpose in life.
As a community organizer, it is my firm belief that the most active communities are fastened in a spirit of collaboration – I will bring this spirit of cooperation to in representing every member of district 16 and the bigger North Dakota. I have a focused vision of a forward-thinking and hands-on approach that will be objective in effectively addressing vital elements in our community – these include educational equity, the growing needs of the workforce, and the housing crisis. I will be poised to foster a safer and welcoming community for all residents. I have proven relevant skills that are critical in bridging barriers and building futures that will connect numerous portions of our communities’ in discovering shared objectives, and working together to in innovating achievable solutions.
For eight years, I have fostered positive change in our community through various leadership positions – which has enhanced my interpersonal leadership skills. I have connected people and communities for a stronger future – with excellent results. I recognize that this is a team effort involving all of us as stakeholders in making our district and state the best place to live. I work hard with a passion for development and growth. I listen. Being proactive, I promoted civic education in immigrant communities to enhance the involvement of new Americans in the political process. I traveled the state, organizing with candidates to ensure we are all involved in growing together for a better future, community, and state.
I look forward to working for the circumstances we all want, and if we do not find them, we must make them.
