Gestalt Group Therapy
Question 5
Gestalt group form of therapy entails an interactive approach that emphasizes the importance of a combination of efforts than single efforts (Brownell, 2019). Thus, individuals within the group agree to devote to a specific activity. Therefore, the group members focus their attention and exertions on diverse experiences that concern directly to the group. As such, the primary goal of the group to help its members work through several issues that facilitate opening up among them.
Transactional analysis is a form of psychotherapy whereby members are encouraged to recognize their behavioral patterns. Often, TA happens alongside the gestalt approach in group therapy. Among the aspects of transactional analysis, straightforwardness in concepts utilized in the therapy process can be applied to the understanding of self (Tangolo, 2018). It is an important aspect that directs towards an understanding of individual behaviors, thus facilitates the alteration of their toxic actions. For instance, our egos give us a different self-perception that rebels the truth and authorities within the surrounding. I would thus use transitional analysis as facilitates the understanding that ego does more harm than it does well.
Similarly, transactional analysis offers an opportunity for internal dialogue (Szymańska, 2017). The concept is very beneficial to me as though the process, individuals become motivated by the ideas and values that accrue. Therefore, the values can be utilized for not only the purpose of self-understanding but also development for an individual as a whole. Consequently, I would use the aspects of transactional analysis to gain different insights regarding my behaviors. It is fundamental as it facilitates the behavioral and growth of an individual as a whole.
