Global melting and ocean acidification
The topics I have chosen are global melting and ocean acidification. The reason why I chose this topic is that these two issues have been a significant problem to mother earth for the past few years owing to our decadence in morals as the human race. All we do is live carefree lives without looking out for the planet we live. First and foremost, as human beings, we overindulge in activities that cause emission of carbon dioxide in large quantities. Increased quantities of carbon dioxide mean that the pH properties of the ocean change, making it acidic over time. In addition to that, the climate has changed because of carbon dioxide, therefore, causing global melting.
As a student without much influence or power to make significant changes towards eradicating these two menaces to our planet, I will do the most I can. i will achieve this by mobilizing my peers towards carrying out environmental friendly activities together with collect plastic non-biodegradable waste that is polluting our environment. In addition to that, I will help in making waste bins that have been created specifically for disposing of different scraps for instance, degradable, those we can recycle and non-biodegradable waste to ease the task of sorting and avoid dumping in our oceans.
I was honestly speaking before taking this class. I was very clueless as I had no idea that math can be used to explain issues affecting our planet; global melting and ocean acidification. Earlier on, I was not too fond of math because I found it very difficult to comprehend and very time consuming when it came to working on the mathematical problems. My passion for conserving the environment was discovered while taking this class was enough to subdue my dislike for math. My perspective has been affected because I enjoy math now since I found there’s more to math than meets the eye.
My fear of math vanished somehow after taking the class. Before I took the course, I would always have anxiety episodes before and during math examinations because my mind would go blank during that time of the test. My fear came to an end after I found my stronghold in math, and I decided to start over on a new slate and give math a second shot because it’s not so bad after all.
