Having a degree in Information Science and Engineering

Having a degree in Information Science and Engineering, I have had the opportunities to traverse through the ups and downs in the technical domain. My interests have always centered on Computer Science and its core applications. What has always fascinated me is the essence of computational abilities and the association it holds with solving real-life problems. This is something that has always driven me to be inclined towards the Computer Sciences.

In college, I learnt about various programming languages, including C, C++ and python. I worked with several operating systems, including window and UNIX. Furthermore, I learnt to use interfaces like MySQL for databases and the Eclipse IDE tool for compilation. Unix System Programming was one of the most rewarding topics that I got to learn. I have observed that I have had a more profound inclination for all concept based topics that have a practical implementation. This is primarily why I enjoyed learning about the implementation of UNIX commands in C language as the classes were practical based, and the teaching stood to be conceptual and comprehensive.

I really enjoyed these topics that were touched during my college studies. However, I strongly feel that an undergraduate curriculum is a mere introduction to the professional domain I so desire to be a part of. A Master’s from a good University can go a long way in not only providing an advanced way of learning but also ample international exposure in the field.

I completed my Bachelor’s in Information Science and Engineering from Pes Institute of Technology, Bangalore, with a total of 67.13 %. I learned Programming Languages – C, C++, DBMS; Assembly Level Language and several other tools to develop software and interface implementation.

My college undergraduate project was based on Extracting Project Attributes from Software Repositories. Our project aimed at extracting project details such as the branches used in a project, the programmer who modified it and the hash code of the project from multiple repositories which can help the developers/programmers use modules in a repository efficiently to make better decisions.

Several workshops and seminars were organized in my college that I have the good fortune to attend. I presented one such seminar on my own on the “Counterfeit Detection based on Unclonable Feature of Paper Using Mobile Camera”. I completed several projects including Mobile Billing System Using C (To Understand Concepts of C), Smart Knock Detection Door Lock Using Arduino and Extracting Project Attributes from Software Repositories. Other projects that I completed are Ogero, Lebanon (OJT), VTel, USA (Shadow work), Test Suite Automation and India Mobile Congress 2019

Apart from my academic inclinations, I have several hobbies that I enjoy. I like playing sports, including cricket and table tennis. I have an eye for appreciating TV series and find the commitment to watch a few in my leisure hours. Other than these I am a true hacker at heart and enjoy solving Programming based puzzles in Hacker rank. In college, I Organized and participated in a workshop of CLOUD COMPUTING AND PYTHON in the technical fest. I also won the 1st Prize in Bhagavath Gita district level.

I have also done volunteer work as a contribution to the society. This included volunteering for a college fest, events conducted by Ericsson to spend a day in old age home and Award functions in Ericsson.

Currently, I am working as a Solution Integrator in Ericsson Global India Services, Bangalore. My job profile includes providing products to the client based on the requirements provided by them. Under my role as the Solution Integrator, I am required to interact and understand the client requirements as per the Onsite and Client feedbacks and estimate the Project delivery timelines.

The technical aspects include the Installation of EDA (Provisioning engine) on the Cloud/KVM, Integration of EDA with the Network Elements/Nodes (on which provisioning is made), Providing Network Elements Routing. I am also required to monitor the functional testing, retrieving logs and the health check of nodes/network elements. I have worked with software including Putty, Browser, WinSCP, SOAP, RIDE and Designer Studio. I am well-versed with the use of python along with Linux Based Commands for integration.

My Special Contribution to the company was working in automating a process which was released as an asset. Within my working experience, I have developed management skills, understood the code of business ethics, along with mastering the art of handling work within deadlines.

Thus, with my experience in the technical domain I want to expand it further by pursing a Master’s in ________________ from ______________ University. The fields of study I would be most interested in include _____________________.

My short term goals are to complete my Master’s in my desired field of study. I would like to work my way into a reputed company in leveraging proven analytical, management and problem-solving skills to contribute to the required role successfully. I am deeply passionate about making a substantial contribution to technology and research which are going to be of supreme importance to me in my professional years. I want to see myself in a prime position in the company contributing to its success and development. To achieve this career milestone, I would like to work hard in developing my skillset and evolving myself with emerging technologies and innovations.

Once I have met the threshold requirements of developing into an able technical profession I have set some long term goals for myself after I gain some considerable amount of experience and skills, Eventually, I want to start a company of my own in my home country to be able to provide employment for other students like me. I feel strongly about the underemployment in the sector, even for talented professionals and have set goals to do my bit to try to resolve it. My main motivation for this dream is to help many students who are unemployed even after completing their graduation.

Thus, with the experience and skills, I will have gained, I would like to establish a company which might serve as a technical and professional hub for many students looking for work harness their skills. For this to happen, I would need some knowledge about emerging technologies and the customer requirements in the real-life market. The best way that I can think to achieve this is by working hard in the industry and acquiring the required skills to help develop both a company and myself as a capable technical professional. I see my Master’s venture as the first step to realize this dream and would be very grateful for the opportunity.
