I believe catheters have been significant inventions in the field of nursing as it helps the patients who cannot move on their won to relive themselves from time to time. Its efficiency has also been exhibited in paralyzed patients as well as those who are in a comma. I found it necessary to ensure changes in a catheter on a regular basis to reduce urinary tract infections associated with it (Meddings et al., 2017). The understanding of the medical practices that underlying this technology has been based on evidence-based practices which act as guidelines in the implementations of the medical practices by nurses. Technology has managed to facilitate an improvement in the quality of healthcare delivery in different sectors, and I was fascinated by how effective the telemedicine, EMR, as well as equipment such as CT cans and catheters, improve the quality of life of the patients, diagnosis as well as treatment. I have come to understand that the quality of healthcare delivery is highly dependent on the effectiveness of the staff as well as their collaborations in the workplace (Mannix et al., 2015). The professional collaborating entails the active coordinating of efforts between the staff under the directive of the healthcare management. There were numerous instances where I had to increase communications strategies to ensure that collaborative efforts are attained and implemented successfully.
In the United States, health policies revolve around a third party, an aspect that I realized during the course of the syllabus. The third-party overage involves the use of public and private insurance. I understand the need for improved healthcare delivery services in the bid to save lives among other services in the healthcare sector. There are diverse aspects of healthcare that I have learned over the course. Ethical consideration is one of these aspects that I find fascinating. The nursing practice is based on ethics which govern the code of conducts of nurses and other healthcare practitioners. This therefore implies that the dealings of all staff members need to be in accordance with the nursing code of ethics ((Sherwood & Barnsteiner, 2017). The understanding of ethics in treating patients, especially those who need catheter changes need to be handled with delicacy to preserve the dignity of the patients which delivering quality series to them. I think the concept of healthcare has been understood from different perspectives over the years, especially across different disciplines. However, some of the constant elements in practice include primary concern of healthcare which is the delivery of healthcare services with integrity and sustainability of healthcare systems.
Come to think of it, evidence-based practices have been deemed the best and new approaches to nursing due to their reliability in handling medical issues among the patient. These approaches also entail the adoptions of strategies that have already been proven to be successful hence increased quality of services delivered. I have been able to witnesses numerous circumstances where the medical practitioners adopted evidence-based practices in an attempt to provide healthcare services to the patients. Nurses, for instances, base their proactive on evidence-based approaches an aspect that I have witnessed in the clinical practice (Meddings et al., 2017). I believe there is more to nursing practices, especially when dealing with patients with chronic illnesses and need as much support as possible.
I also came to comprehend the implications of healthcare delivery and clinical systems with regard to healthcare delivery. The different systems put in place support the nursing practice by providing policies that need to be implemented to ensure the delivery of high quality healthcare services. The national health insurance model for instances have been successfully implemented by numerous nations including the United States (Sherwood & Barnsteiner, 2017). The experiences as a nurse offer perspective about the significance of the diverse aspects of healthcare delivery. Dealing with catheters for instance ensures the health expulsions of urine by immobile patients. In healthcare however, the concern is more than just the ease of efficiency, it’s also about comfort and preventive measure. Regular changes in catheter for instance have been deemed one of the remedies to urinary tract infection among patients.
I am also conversant with the trends in cultural diversity among patients across the globe. The nursing practice is based on equality in the delivery of healthcare; however different groups of people have diverse perceptions about medical treatment and nursing care aspects that need to be considered by nurses in the delivery of healthcare services (Mannix et al, 2015). Leadership has been an integral part of health care delivery systems in the United States. I think the success or rather the efficiency of healthcare facility lies on its leadership. There are diverse leadership models adopted in most healthcare institutions. However the majority entails the use of managers to implement the policies of the institution. Despite the disparities in leadership styles used, the transformational leadership has been deemed the most effective as nurses competencies are improved due to close working relations with the healthcare facility management. This kind of leadership focuses on improving the skills and experiences of the nurses in a bid to improve their efficiency in their duties.
