[unique_solution]http://www.uh.edu/admin/engines/epi339.htm Some of the characteristics of Transcendentalism: 1 – the study of nature helps us reach an understanding of our spirituality. 2 – meditation allows us to look within ourselves to understand our spirituality. 3 – through reaching our inner spirituality (our inner genius, as Thoreau puts it) we can transcend (go beyond) the material world. 4 – our present life (the material world) is not as important as our eternal life (the immaterial world). 5 – because we want to reach our spirituality, materialism (money, possessions) are unimportant. 6 – the individual is much more important than the institution. 7 – nature′s laws (or God′s laws or universal laws) are more important than man-made laws.
