Historic Art Work Poem

            Art and poetry are two aspects of literature that are interrelated in the sense that, the creator of each form of expression does so with the aim of trying to pass on a certain message to the desired audience. Through historic art work and poetry, it is possible to understand societies better in various aspects such as their way of life, beliefs and practices. Throughout the course of history, we have witnessed great artists who have managed to amaze us with their exceptional works of art. Leonardo da Vinci is one famous historic painter whose works transcend across parts of the world. The last supper is one of his most renowned works of art in history.

Leonardo di ser Piero da Vinci

Leonardo di ser Piero da Vinci is an Italian artist who was born in the year 1452 and passed on in the year 1519. Leonardo da Vinci was born out of wedlock to a peasant mother and the father Piero da Vinci in Vinci which was a locale near the city of Florence in Italy. Leonardo da Vinci is commonly referred to as the polymath of the renaissance period in Italy given that his knowledge and understanding transcended across various subjects including; math, human anatomy, physics, botany, astronomy among other major fields. Credit is also attributed to Leonardo’s instructor Andrea del Verrocchio who was entrusted with the responsibility of educating the young Leonardo. Although Leonardo da Vinci is commonly known as a painter with respect to his famous paintings such as the Mona Lisa, he was a talented man of his time and managed to express himself in various ways and the society he came from as well..

The last supper

The last supper is a painting by Leonardo da Vinci that was painted on a tempera and gesso medium that depicts the religious activity of the last supper between Jesus and his disciples. Dated back to the late 15^th century, the last supper is a painting that is identified to have been commissioned as a renovation work by Ludovico Sforza who was Leonardo’s patron as well as the duke of Millan. The activity was in the aim to renovate the church and convent buildings in the church at Millan. The last supper painting depicts the gospel as depicted in the book of John 13:21 where Jesus breaks bread with his disciples for the last time before the persecution and crucifixion took place. The painting’s popularity spread much and is one of the most recognizable forms of art in the western world today.

Descriptive poem

with a painter in his hand the artist sat down at his table deep in thought of his work

he remembered of the grace of our lord and how he died on the cross for mankind

the last supper that he shared with his disciples like a teacher among his learners

little did they know that this was the last bread that they would break together

sitted in their midst, the apostles were at peace knowing that the savior was among them

peter was willing to accompany the son of man to his designated  death for the people

but how prepared was he in the face of the trouble and pain that was lurking in the air

the tension was palpable when the son of man revealed that his betrayer sat at the table

everyone present at the table was curious as to whom the deserter was

but this was as it had been planned from the beginning he was just a vessel

that saw to it that the prophesy came through as prophesied

that the believers be saved from their sinful ways and the son on man returns to his father
