History of Optics, Opticianry, and the First Eyeglasses

The science of optics deals with the propagation and the genesis of light, there basically exists two of the most distinguished branches of optics like; geometrical and the physical. The physical optics deals primarily with the properties of light and the nature of light. Whereas the geometrical optics deals with the image-forming properties of mirrors and the lenses. Additionally, the term optics deals particularly with the vision and the eyes. Later on, to deal with different needs related to eyes or different problems of the eyes, further various tools are made for eyes, (Vohnsen, 2004).

Additionally, the first pair of glasses got invented in Italy during the 13th century. The man who discovered eyeglasses was Salvino D’Armate. The first-ever eyeglasses have frames that are made of metal, and the frame was made of quartz. Later, in the 14th century the Italians have made different corrections and tried their best to present clear lenses, these lenses were mostly used to correct and provide the quality vision for the people who have week farsightedness, (Vohnsen, 2004).

During the 15the century, China worked on the lenses and optics and tried to make the best of all in terms of frame and lenses. Lenses make their way with different styles and designs like lenses got to fit in the frames made of wood, and copper. Whereas the bone and leather and velvet are mostly used to protect the frames. In the 17th century, the frames of steel with different designs got introduced for the first time. The modern styles related to frames and lenses got introduced that can be easily get placed on the nose. In 1827, Sir George Biddle Airy introduced and invented the frames made of steel that are made to hold by one hand and can be placed on one eye with the help of checks and nose pressure.

Later on, with the passage of time, the construction of frames, upgraded and improved frames generally include the construction of steel and plastic with good quality lenses and designs. Furthermore, in 1955 the unbreakable lenses got introduced that hold the construction of plastic and glass (Smith, & King, 2001).

The Theory of Optics:

The nature of light holds that it is made up of small particles, and different colors as a necessary tool. The physical concept of optics includes the engineering process like that of a high definition of optics and the switching of optics etc. There exist there major types of light-matter interaction like that of; refraction, absorption, and scattering. And the light interaction depends on the amount of light energy, the wavelength of the rays of light, the polarization of light length, the various attributes of light, and the molecular structure of the light and the matter that provides good results, (Bass, DeCusatis, Enoch, Lakshminarayanan, Macdonald, & Van Stryland, 2009).

Additionally, at the increased level of energies that interactions take place of nonlinear, for example, fluorescence, etc. And further exists the steps related to optics are; absorption, absorption through atmospheric conditions, the speed of light in matter, the refraction process, and the law of refraction (Smith, & King, 2001).

The lenses advancements are extremely standout now, and color lenses are own very much popular among people now. Sir William Crookes designed lenses that hold the ability to absorb the infrared and the ultralight lights. But in 1930 the sunglasses become most widely popular among people with different designs and styles. In America, the eyeglasses brands of Aviators by Bausch and Lomb now poplar as Ray-Ban (Smith, & King, 2001).

The Improved Quality of Lenses and Optics:

Around the 1980s, the lenses got significantly better and extravagant. Technological innovations made the production of high-quality lenses made of plastic to ensure safety and durability. The lens advancement came forth that is thinner and contains clearer and unique quality are known as high index plastic lenses. Plus, polycarbonate lenses are important for their safety (Bass, DeCusatis, Enoch, Lakshminarayanan, Macdonald, & Van Stryland, 2009).

The Importance of Optics and Eyeglasses:

The importance of the optics is that they provide a clear vision and makes you look decent and stylish because of various frame styles and colors. The lenses and eyeglasses are best to treat farsightedness, myopia, astigmatism, etc. It also improves the difficulty in seeing, it clears your vision. Plus, the eyeglass and the lenses are made by the optician. Anyone facing any difficulty related to the vision and eye problem should definitely consult the eye doctor and should wear eyeglasses that suit them (Smith, & King, 2001).

Lastly, I hope the above-mentioned guide will make you understand the history, purpose, and importance of optics and why they are important.
