According to the expectancy theory, an employee’s motivation originates as a result of valence, expectancy, and instrumentality. Valence is how much an individual wants to be rewarded; it is an expectation and not the facts that an employee expects to be given after achieving their goals. Expectancy is the assumption that effort will lead to the expected performance, having faith that if you provide better effort, one will receive better results. Expectancy is dependent on whether the employee has the relevant skills, the information needed, and the required resources to get the job done. Instrumentality is the belief that performance leads to rewards, believing that a logical outcome will always come if the return is good. This theory is dependent on the following relationships; effort performance relationship, performance reward relationship, and reward-personal goals. This theory states that it’s the employees who decide whether to work or not; the decision is entirely on the employee’s motivation level.

Financial incentives are the monetary benefits that are given to employees to motivate their performance. Both the professional athletes and workers in business use financial incentives to motivate their employees. The financial incentives are kept to attract and maintain the top talent of the organization or, in the other case, athletes. Health is important, an organization may choose not to provide financial incentives, but they ensure that their employees are in healthy conditions. This is the same case with athletes where the coaches ensure that the athletes are in good health to perfume; this motivates them a, therefore, boosting their performance. The same situation with the employees when a company works towards ensuring the health of the workers is well taken care of their productivity increases because they feel valued by the company. The differences between a project manager and a general manager are not very distinct. However, a few differences between the two differentiate them giving them different definitions. The primary difference between the two is that the project manager has a temporary role as compared to the general manager, which results in difficulty in the team-building effort. Both a project manager and general manager are involved in planning, controlling, and motivating for them to achieve a set of goals. They both work with teams. A project manager has his team in which they work with temporary projects, a specific time, and a result that is meant to accomplish the primary goal of the organization, whereas a general manager heads a team that works towards achieving the ultimate goal of the organization. They both work towards achieving the purpose of the company. Although they have a different project, the final plan is to make the primary goal of the organization.
