The unpreparedness and reluctance to seek medical help makes the sickness take long before its diagnosed.incases where the illness is diagnosed many don’t know how to cope with it. Prwevious studies has consistently shown that mental illness strucks more women than men. This has led to a question on why mental disorders are disproportionately striking women.some of key risk factors have been identied . biological nature of women and social economic factors have been associated with the increased vulnability of women to mental illness.this research paper will explore how economic aspects ethical issues and social factors have contributed in women prevalence to mental illness.
Mental illness is described as a medical condition that negatively interferes with humans thinking capability, disturbing moods, and or changing normal humans behavior. Mental illness alters patient’s social behavior, tempering with performance of ordinary life activities and in some cases results to death. There are several symptoms associated with mental illness. They include, depression, extreme mood changes, strong feeling of fear, delusions, paranoia and hallucinations.In 2016 , 18.3% of U.S adults had some type of mental illness. Women recoded higher prevalence of AMI than men of 21.7% and 14.5% consecatively. A research published by WHO showed that women are at higher risk of developing mental illness by 40% as compared to men.
