How globalization has changed jobs in Organizations and the responses made by Human Resource Management.
Globalization refers to the spread of technology, products, jobs, and information globally. It involves the integration of the international economy that allows free trade and cheap labor markets in underdeveloped countries. In the current world, raw materials, money transfer, and technology are easily spread across the globe (Chitrao, 2015). Therefore, globalization has led to the exchange of ideas globally, which has led to developments of international laws and social movements.
Production has been made available by globalization in the organization I worked in for the last two years. At present, the products that we produce are in high demand not only in our home country but also in other countries. It has opened new opportunities to develop other factories and markets to distribute the product due to its high demand by customers. As such, human resource has to take into account language barriers in diverse cultures and begin education programs for the employees to communicate effectively with various individuals. Additionally, human resource managers may face communication challenges when operating with employees over long distances. Executives rely on technology such as emails or snapchat to communicate with employees, therefore, eliminating human interaction (Chitrao, 2015).
Global expansion may be influenced by the variation of taxes and labor laws in respective countries. Human resource management has to be informed about the different tax rates profits and environmental regulations of diverse nations to avoid negative consequences in the long run. However, some of the necessities may conflict with the present corporate policies. Thus, they have to make adjustments to comply with the laws of a specific country (Pham, 2017). Human resource executives should not only become experts in matters concerning their organization but also be updated on the current policies made in a country they are operating.
