how to use the microbiology process to benefit the community
I choose this study because it gives knowledge on how to use the microbiology process to benefit the community. This study also helps in the storage of foods in the right environment, with the required extrinsic factors ranges to avoid food spoilage and microorganisms’ growth. This study will also help to use beneficial microbes such as yeast, bacteria, and molds in food production and food ingredients production. Beneficial microbes, when used in large scales they can increase the productivity of products hence bringing more income. Food production using microbes is cheap when used on a large scale rather than a small scale because the cost of production is reduced. This study also helps to create awareness on the list of food-borne illnesses and how to be hygienic to avoid food contamination and spoilage.
On the other hand, food microbiology does not have benefits only but also has harmful impacts on the community and population in general. If products are produced in large quantities such as dairy products and packaging properly is not done, many losses are incurred. When income falls consumption rate decrease in such situations of large production, there is food spoilage and loss of the cost of production. This study fails to tell us how to avoid food spoilage and contamination in large scale productions rather than just hygiene. It does not also provide ways of killing harmful microbes after they have grown in food before spoilage. This study emphasizes on the food-borne illnesses rather than ways to fight and prevent them from occurring.
