Abstract

Women’s rights have existed for several years. Most nations in the world are working towards promoting the right, while others tend to violate women’s rights. Women have to be given certain entitlements to make their lives better. The essay investigates how women march been presented by various media within and outside the United States. The study uses Fox news, sky news, and MSNBC news sources on woman’s march. It was found that the three media sources presented women marchs using different presentation styles. Secondly, the majority of people have perceived that women’s movement was created for a political purpose. Finally, the current debate does not seem to end in the near future.

Introduction

Women’s rights are defined as vital human rights that are protected by every nation in the world for the benefit of each woman. They are entitlements that and rights that have to be given to each female irrespective of her place of residence. Furthermore, rights are enhanced and protected by law, human behaviors, and local custom in some countries. In contrast, some countries tend to ignore and suppress women’s rights which form basis for women’s rights movements. Examples of women’s rights include rights to live free from being oppressed by violence, discriminations and slavery, rights to own property, voting, education, fair wages, and salaries. However, despite efforts by both local and international women movements for an extended period, some women are still not being treated fairly. The media presents similar issues by using different techniques. The various methods creates dissimilar perceptions among their customers.  In this essay will focus on using fox news, MSNBC, and a news source from a different country. The essay will discuss the United States Women’s march 2020.

Fox News on the failure of women march

Fox News presented on 21^st  January 2020 is the first source. The news was titled “identity politics of the women’s march” Tammy Bruce, a Fox News host and political contributor discusses the reasons why the Women march failed following disappointing attendance Washington DC during the women’s 4^th annual march. Women march movement was created following President Donald Trump’s presidential win. Women march is an anti-trump women’s right movement that criticizes the president’s views on women’s rights.

According to Tammy Bruce, women march disappointed because it was created on intellectually dishonest grounds.  She argues that the movement was not created to campaign for women’s rights or welfare, but I was for a political reason. Women march was designed to disapprove President Donald Trump to oust him. For instance, in the run-up there was the headline “The Women’s March 2020 Is This Weekend. Go, So You Don’t Have To Go Next Year,” implies that it is a political as well as partisan movement that aims at getting rid of President Donald Trump.

Furthermore, Bruce compares the current turn out of about ten thousand people to previous marches that were carried out after Trump’s inauguration. The way the news were presented would change people perception of Women march. Simply just from observing the news title “identity politics of the women’s march,” most people will understand that the movement was not aimed at fighting for women’s rights. On the other hand, President Trump’s political rivals and haters will still ignore the news and maintain women’s march is not a political movement. However, it is worthy to note that women march will lose support from most American citizens. People are increasingly recognizing that women march do not take care of woman issue, the movement has a political purpose. Also, people will start to identify and appreciate contributions toward women improvement. Finally, the movement will collapse due to lack of support among American residents.

MSNBC Women march 2020 news

The second source on woman march was presented on 20^th January 2020 and titled “women’s march in Washington”. The news streams the Washington protest that lasts for about 50 minutes. Hundreds of protestors are gathered holding boards and wearing pink hats and protest boards. It begins with a woman quoting historical human rights activists like Martin Luther king. She cites that “women are the soul of a nation” and describes martin Luther king and his birthday.

Various speakers, both male and female present various protest speeches. For example, one speaker read a speech in which she says it is ironic that America is challenged to rewrite its history. During the speech, she says that rights will be strengthened through respecting the dignity of every man, woman, and child. 2020 is the year of celebrating 100 years after women were allowed to vote. She believes that women are key to saving the United States soul. Embracing revolution, peace, and justice will eradicate issues like violence, discrimination, and poverty. Apart from speeches, there is music a presentation accompanied by dancing, hitting drums, and whistleblowing. The protesting women are shouting various messages. A woman acted by flipping others, and as a result, they reacted by shouting, “My body, my choice”. In the end, they are talking about strengthening the woman marching movement in the year 2020 while protestors are walking. The protestors were holding their protest boards bearing political signs

The 2020 woman march tends to be a political, and protestors are holding boards. Some of the boards have political messages, and it seems they are aiming at getting rid of President Donald Trump. It can be observed that the protest is political, and against Trump that is fighting for women’s rights. A woman chose to dress like prisoners and pretended that she was president trump. Most of the board signs had a message that they should eject president trump. However, it is worthy to note, unlike previous woman march, there is disappointing attendance.

HSNBC news presented the protest as an event where women demanded their rights. However, the news can be interpreted as political movement since the protesters were holding anti-President Donald Trump signs.

Sky News on woman march 2020

The third source is chosen to use the sky new news on women march 2020. The news was presented on Sunday, 19^th January 2020, at 08:49 United Kingdom time. The news was titled “Thousands of people gathered across cities across the US as part of the nationwide Women’s March rallies calling for equality”.

The news began with a woman leading the protest group and saying that they are telling ‘them’ about what they need in their community. She then continues by saying, let us show them who the hell we are. After she speaks, the protesting crowd raises their voice while holding protest signs. The news continued as a woman Sky news present separate protest locations like Los Angeles and New York City.

Unlike, the MSNBC and fox news sky news did not preset the event as a political protest. They captured various events in different towns to give their customers insights about what was going on in the American States. Their customers (viewers) were able to understand what was going on in the United States. It will create an implication that people who are not within the United States will support women marching.

Discussions

The three news sources presented similar events (woman march 2020) using different techniques. Viewers understood the right women event in different perceptions. Different perceptions will likely influence the future of the woman March movement. The three news sources focus discussion on women marching women’s rights movement.

Both MSNBC and fox news on women march 2020 were detailed. Fox News presented the protest as a failing event. Tammy Bruce argued that the event was failing due to reduced attendance. Therefore, the news creates a picture that Trump is associated with the violation of women’s rights. On the other hand, sky news presented the prevailing situation in various United States towns. The sky news viewers perceive that the movement aims at fighting for woman equality. However, their presentation was not detailed like that of MSNBC and Fox news. Generally, these presentations will trigger existing debates about women’s march movement. Therefore, it is likely that the current discussion will not come to an end.

Conclusion

An event can be conveyed by different media to create different perceptions among their customers. Woman rights is a sensitive issue that can be either promoted or hindered by the press. Since the election of President Donald Trump, Woman March has been an important discussion topic. The majority of Americans have realized that the movement is politically created and cannot address their issues. Furthermore, no anticipated issue has occurred during President Trump’s tenure. Finally, the media is a significant influence of not only women’s rights but also other social-economic problems.
