Human Resource is a vital department in an organization. It plays important roles that could affect the organization positively or negatively according to how they carry out their functions. One of the critical functions performed by the Human Resources is Staffing.
Staffing is the process of vetting the candidates and finally hiring fit candidates for the job positions in a company or organization. Large organizations sometimes handle staffing by initiating simultaneous cycles within a specified period so that they can find the best employees. This cycle may involve amplitude tests, different interview processes, and finally being hired. With this type, more resources are needed in terms of finances and resources. Therefore, they involve many candidates in the staffing process. The small organization does case by case way of staffing. Usually, this means them handling a small number of candidates.
One of the examples of staffing roles is job analysis. Job analysis is the process of identifying and developing positions required by the organization or firms to complete a project to achieve the organization’s goals or accomplish its mission. For this to be successful, Human Resources have to define to the job roles, plan for hiring costs, and define the right personnel. Different companies require different skills and specialization for a particular job role; thus, this helps to choose the eligible personnel they need.
Recruitment is another example of a staffing role. Recruitment is the process of identifying the ideal person to fill a particular job position. Typically recruitment process involves the vetting process, screening of the candidate, and both oral and written interviews. In background screening checks, Human Resources can decide to work on it or hire a background check company to do the test in case of very prestigious job positions that require detailed information. In background checks, the candidate’s previous employment check, education check, and reference checks are done.
Staffing role is a critical role because it will help the organization to pick eligible employees with ethical conduct from their criminal checks and previous employment. Through this, the company has full detail of the employee. Secondly, staffing will help the organization avoid incurrences of unplanned costs due to employees being hired now and then. Moreover., It is going to maximize the organization’s services in terms of both quality and quantity. When the right person is employed for the right job, he or she tends to perform positively.
