The collection of data regarding secondary language will take place in schools. The school environment will be an ideal data collection site since I will have a large number of collections of students. I will, therefore, diversify my data collection to urban and local places to enhance the accuracy of my research. In this research, I will have a minimum of twenty respondents of students in urban places and twenty from rural places. I will further employ the use of a questionnaire on teachers to authenticity the findings from my research method. The application of the school environment will be vital for my research project to help me cover leaners from several social and economic backgrounds. Contrary, the application of other environments, such as homes, may mislead the findings of my research project. Generally, the sample in my research will be a school environment.

On the method of data collection, I will employ the use of direct observation methods on learners and questionnaires on their teachers. I will directly observe my learners with an idea of finding firsthand information regarding their abilities and potentials in the second language. I will go ahead to go through their marks in seeking to find out the relationship between second language and academic performance. The other instruction I will employ during data collections is their teachers. I will develop a questionnaire that will see their teachers complete on the relationship between academic performance. I will correlate the relationship of the data from direct observations and questionnaires to their instructors.

Type of data collected

I will collect statistical data quantitative data through the questionnaires. Consequently, the direct observation method will help me have qualitative data. the integration of the two types of data will help me to easily determine the correlation between second language and social and academic behavior. In this research, the quantitative data will be ideal for helping me come out with conclusions regarding my survey by using the statistics on the number of respondents and those who argue for and against. The application of the two types of data is important since the understanding of relationships requires both qualitative and quantitative approaches. Generally, for research seeking to find relationships, I will employ the use of both qualitative and quantitative research methods.

Analysis of data

The analysis part will involve first comparing the relationship between qualitative and quantitative information. I will employ the use of graphs to deduce the relationship between the data from the direct observation method and that from questionnaires that are evident from the teacher. The correlation between the two sets of data will dictate the accuracy of conclusions in the research method (Henning, Dreiskämper, & Strauss, 2019). The application of graphs will be an easy way to make the audience understand the presentation of data quickly. The analysis of data will also involve seeking to compute the mathematical relations between the responses from teachers. The conclusions of the research will significantly depend on the information evident from the raw data given by the instructors. Thus, I will assess the quantitative respondents on the data and how it relates to students’ socialization and performance in academics.

Limitations of the research

The research method is tedious since it involves making travels to rural areas and back to urban. This traveling makes the research tedious are tiresome to carry out (Makin, C., Hill, & Pellicano, 2017). The traveling is also time-consuming since I am the only researcher to take a direct observation of the students. The time consuming is also evident in the number of days to spend observing students since they cannot be observed on a single day.
