Incident Information Sharing Methods
A brief introduction
After or before a specific major incident, it is always necessary for a company or a government to inform both their internal members, as well as inform the general public who might be affected with these type of incidents. Issuing an official statement and clarifying the matter is very much important, as it clears up the misconceptions among the people regarding that incident, and decides their further course of action as directed by the official body. There can be many methods of doing so. Both internal and external members could be notified through approaches which would address a large number of people at the same time
Ways of information sharing:
Usually, when there is a need to address many people at the same time, one of the oldest and effective means of communicating is through printed media. The information is directly printed on paper and is either put in a place where it can be viewed by the public or is delivered to them directly. Few notable examples, in this case, are newspapers, notices, letters et cetera. For example, the government may clarify and issue an official statement regarding up-gradation in tax-paying systems both through public announcements and through newspapers (Takala et al. .2020). Contradicting the print media, electronic media shares the information through audiovisual cues. Over the years, this form of communication has become more popular than the print media, as it takes minimal effort and cost as compared to print media, which requires more workforce and time (Eman, & Huda 2019). Electronic media, which is an integral part of mass media, is very much influential than printed media, and hence its influence could easily be used to spread the news effectively. A government official can book an interview on television, and speak on behalf of the government, clarifying the doubts of the general population.
Under electronic media, another essential medium of information sharing is the internet. The growing popularity of the internet and social media platforms has enabled the governments as well as industries to communicate to the general audience through them. This has helped in spreading news very easily and quickly, as thousands of people are logged in to their social media accounts round the clock. (Moen, Rialp, & Rialp,2020). Prominent vital persons in the government and industries can have their social media handle, through which they can officially confirm or deny any allegations related to the incident, as well as rely on pertinent information about the event. For example, the Prime Minister of a country can use his/her official twitter handle to announce a new upcoming collaboration of their government with a foreign government.
Conclusion
In case of any significant incident, it is utmost necessary for the government (or any industry) to rely upon relevant news regarding that incident to the people associated with them, as well as to the general public. This is necessary, as it makes the events of the entire episode transparent, and relays correct information to the people. Also, it makes sure that any other false news spread by any third party, with wring information, is ignored by people.
