It is with no contradiction that the younger generation is inadequate in keeping their job. This article, titled “Job hopping: no new phenomenon” talks about the consistent lack of long-term employment among millennial and Generation Z (Middlemiss, 2018). According to a statement made by Katie Williams, an HR Centre head in New Zealand, “to decide if millennial stay a shorter period at a job, they should be compared to Gen X at around the same age” (Middlemiss, 2018). Most of the employers avoid employing younger people as they assume they are imprudent and lack motivation. Leading cause of this trend has been mistaken to be due to different factors like the organization culture, working condition and motivation.
The millennial generation presents digitally savvy individuals to the workforce, young adults who are used to “quick-paced information at the touch of their fingertips” (Middlemiss, 2018). A report on the study conducted by “American Department of Labor,” it was discovered that Generation X had a slightly lower workplace tenure at the same age and stage in their lives“(see Appendix A for more information on the Labor data study) (Middlemiss, 2018). Most of the Millennials desire to work in a fast-growing company with a huge salary and, have fewer restrictions. A millennial, in actuality, wants nothing more than an organizational climate where they can “add value, and above other things, be valued” (Middlemiss, 2018).
