Literary work takes various forms, where the author has to integrate them into their work to make it more appealing to the general public. Language, image and other types are both significant in creating a visual impression of an element in the community and that the public is directed or driven in a particular direction with or without their concern and understanding. In this regard, the various authors have exercised their literary rights by integrating multiple forms of art to pass the message to the community regarding their past life events and its relations to both the present and future lives. Therefore, the detailed discussion outlines how these authors have employed the use of language, visual content, and sound in communicating with the community.
As evident in Nostalgia by Katelyn Peters, the author creates an image of their immense relationship and friendship with his old friends whom they once failed with their bikes and developed a scar that never ends. The scar reminded him of the most significant moment of their lives a long time ago. The sounds set a gloomy tone of the past events in their life. The author uses a more productive and creative language to describe how every event unfolded in their lives since when they were young.
In the “United Van Lines” writing, the author uses repetition to emphasize on the things he is leaving as he vacates to a new place. The author outlines the various elements and aspects he is leaving to accommodate changes in his life. From his work, the author narrates the good places and events that have unfolded over time. He uses a productive and creative language to create an image of the past which the readers can readily establish in their minds. An admiring tone is used to show how beautiful the moments with his friends and the places were in the past.
More so, as evident in Sliver by Sarah Winn, she uses a series of words and voices to deliver her message to the readers. For instance, a calm voice revealing how much she suffered before rescued by one of the miners. She also depicts a cruel tone of the events in her past and now a sliver to someone’s life. The sound used depicts how the narrator is struggling with her current life. She is regretting having spent much of her time in bondage before rescued by the man who later came to be her spouse.
What is more appealing about these pieces is the way each one stands out to depict the nature and image of the events as to how they unfolded. For instance, the repetition in “United Van Lines” revealed how beautiful the period was before a plan to move to a new home. A home where he will be isolated from the previous aspects and life events. Another appealing aspect of these pieces is the way the authors have organized them to depict the order of events as they unfolded in life. For example, in Katelyn Peter’s work, the image reveals an immense relationship between two people who used to spend much of their time together as reported that they even had an accident while cycling together on the streets. The image is created in the mind of the reader, which is the primary aspect of literary devices as they try to paint a comprehensive picture of the society to the memory of the readers. I want to try incorporating various literary elements in my work to be more appealing to my readers.
