Integrating your psychology and counseling perspectives with your religious beliefs and values
Introduction
My philosophical assumption of Human created in the Image of God. The uniqueness of humanity helps us understand the image of God in man. I am a Christian, and I believe that we spiritual beings created to represent and worship our God, who is Spirit. According to Bible when God created the first man, He breathed into his nostrils the breath of life (Genesis 2:7) making a man a living soul this gave him spiritual life. We relate to God in worship and communication. We are personal beings. A personal God creates us, and our personhood reflects that aspect of God. He created humans with personality, as unique individuals with self-consciousness and purpose. While every man and woman has shared traits, no two people are alike. Every individual has image of God; each human life has significance before God.
We are moral beings. God is holy. He created humanity with a moral compass, a conscience that gives each of us an inner sense of the difference between right and wrong. The conscience may be deadened or seared by sin, but it remains hardwired in man. The hardest question for both atheists and evolutionists is how to explain the moral nature of the human race, in every culture, in every people group, and even in every religion. Moreover, man’s moral capacity makes him accountable to God for his actions. We are relational beings. Let Us make man in our image, according to our likeness (Genesis 1:26). God created us with the capacity to relate both to God and to others. Humans were not made to live in isolated individualism. The image of God is involved in how we relate to marriage and the fellowship of the church, and how we relate to others in the Great Commandment and the Great Commission (see Genesis 2:18-25; Matthew 19: 1-12; Galatians 3:26-29). We are rational beings. God is a God of knowledge. While our experience is limited, God created us with the capacity to think, to know, and to learn. Christianity is not a mindless faith. Just the opposite. The intellectual aspect of imago Dei means that our minds are a vital part of how we are to love God (Matthew 22:37), that we are to cultivate our minds (Ephesians 4:23), and that we are to renew our minds for transformation (Romans 12:2).We are emotional beings. We are made in the likeness of God, who Himself is love. It is the emotive facet of our makeup that allows us to experience intimacy with those close to us, to feel compassion for others, and to know the deep awe of God that causes us to delight and find soul satisfaction in Him. We are creative beings. God is the Creator. His glory is displayed in His creation. We have an insatiable desire to create, whether producing a piece of art, starting a business, writing a book, or landscaping the yard. While our creativity is different from God’s, who made everything from nothing, the linkage of the image of God in man in creation to the cultural mandate in Genesis 1:26-27 speaks to our creative responsibility?
My physiological assumption about GOD is that I believe there is a spiritual being or powerful being who created man and gave him instruction. From the Holy Scripture and the counseling from at Hodgepodge of Humanistic and Gestalt Therapy, Everything in the world was created by the mighty God. He is always there to protect his people and provide the daily bread and will judge when he does wrong. According to what I believe God created man in his image God has higher power and being powerful can do all great things in human life. For instance, God is responsible for rainfall and weather conditions. From the Holy Scripture, we find that God communicates with his followers through prayers, praising and even reading the scripture. God is omnipresent, and I understand that God is ready to answer our prayers.
The aspect of religion can be used to show one’s assumption on how a human being is created in the image of also understand human personality determines one’s character traits, and this is simply a source of change in the society. Based on an individual structure the body structure is also an affirmation that God is protecting us from killer diseases currently the guidance and counseling am free from diseases I involve how ego body, soul and spirits functions. One’s culture and religion determine human behavior. For instance, as a Christian, I was taught a lot concerning moral values and good behavior. Church has played a vital role in shaping one’s behavior. I believe religion is the best in shaping one’s behavior. This is achieved by teaching on Bible and the scripture. My growth stages were like a model I am 33 years, a female born in Beaufort SC and raised in a Pentecostal Southern Baptist Culture. My preferred form of counseling is a Hodge podge of Humanistic and Gestalt Therapy. The good directions and advice I gain here are good taking; I will always use their services.
