Integration of Faith and Learning

Integration of faith and learning refers to the existing inherent relationship between Christian faith and knowledge. Historically, integration of human learning and Christian faith led to the development of the Christian world view and understanding of subject matter. Christian world view as an integration of Christian beliefs with a particular discipline helps us understand its application in the learning process. Quality control is an activity that monitors projects’ results and their compliance with standards. Quality planning refers to procedures that ensure adherence to quality project standards. Quality management is the ability to solve project issues as they arise and prevent their occurrence.  Christian world view perspective describes Christian moral beliefs and ethics needed for the successful implementation of quality control, planning, and management.

Christian view on quality management practices relies on Christian faith and its application on managing people and resources (Harris, 2004). The purpose of quality management is to develop good working relationships with project stakeholders. Besides following the written guidelines for quality management, Christian stewardship is a biblical perspective defining the management concept. In 2 Thessalonians 2:15  (NIV) “So then, brothers and sisters, stand firm and hold fast to the teachings we passed on to you, whether by word of mouth or by letter.” God explains the importance of adhering to written instructions for the achievement of the Christian faith. Christianity relies on a set of values and beliefs outlined in the scripture, and this principle applies to quality management.

The concept of the empirical approach describes the success or failure of quality planning in management. The empirical approach elaborates on the benefits of teamwork contribution to successful project implementation. In 2 Thessalonians 2:15  (NIV)”So then, brothers and sisters, stand firm and hold fast to the teachings we passed on to you, whether by word of mouth or by letter.” God describes the importance of biblical instructions to achieve Christian values in a group of people. The purpose of quality planning is to ensure the quality delivery of project outputs through teamwork. Christians follow prescribed biblical instructions to stand firm in their faith. Therefore Christian principles are applicable in monitoring and evaluation of quality standards in quality planning.

The decision-making process is essential for the successful implementation of quality control in project management. For Christians to stand firm in their faith, they need to choose the Bible as an authority for making decisions. According to 2 Thessalonians 2:15  (NIV)”So then, brothers and sisters, stand firm and hold fast to the teachings we passed on to you, whether by word of mouth or by letter.” the scripture admonishes Christians to take written instructions as an authority for the decision making process. The Bible outlines the importance of adhering to the guidance given by our leaders as it defines the success of an individual in their Christian faith..

The systems approach is a holistic view of quality control in project management. The system approach describes the interconnections of the various interdependent process, such as inputs and their role in project management (Cooke-Davies, 2000). In Proverbs 13:13 (NIV), “Whoever scorns instruction will pay for it, but whoever respects a command is rewarded.” God describes the consequences of complying and not adhering to written instructions. Christians have to count the cost of Christianity, as the Bible promises success to those who follow its direction. Contrary, failure follows those who ignore scriptural instructions. The Christian principle of failure and success applies to the cost of quality, whereby it effectively controls measures for monitoring project performance. Lack of monitoring and evaluation of the project performance dictates its failure.

In conclusion, the Christian world view offers a great perspective on quality management. Christian faith provides the right qualities and virtues needed to solve issues related to quality planning and management. The Christian world view is significant in increasing the productivity of quality control and management. Implementation of the Christian world view in the decision-making process improves the quality of managing employees as they will adopt Christian values at work. The integration of Christian faith ensures timely uptake of corrective measures when project management challenges arise. Project management involves the collective contribution of individuals, and the integration of Christian faith is useful in accommodating and dealing with different personalities.
