Interest in business and economics

My interest in business and economics was spurred as a child when I accompanied my father to his office and wondered how the cash flow in the business world impacted the global economy. As I experienced my first taste of business through Monopoly, I used that as a base to compare and contrast the new information I learned every day during my visits to my father’s office. When I grew up, I invested my time in reading newspapers, which, along with my subjects in high school, solidified my interest in economics and business.

Eventually, my interest in economics evolved into the desire to work in the financial services sector, which is the future of the world’s economy. In school, we were assigned a project to conduct research on the fourteen principles of management proposed by Henri Fayol. I chose to assess an Indian cafe, Chaayos, and test the significance of these principles on the cafe’s working. The project gave me useful insight into financial strategy and analysis, and I thoroughly enjoyed crafting the project and compiling my research for the class.

Encouraged by my positive experience, I decided to pursue an internship Bhutani & Co. Pvt. Ltd.in 2018. I worked in the accounting department, which was an enriching experience and showed me how the real world worked. This internship cemented my resolve to work in business, and I found myself pursuing another internship in the business sector. OPG Securities Pvt. Ltd. is a stock broking company, and I worked in the trading department for a couple of months. As they say, too much of something is never enough, so I interned at Hindustan Tin Works Limited in 2019-20 where I worked in the accounting department of the company.

All these experiences have significantly added to my knowledge. In addition to this, my various leadership and community service experiences ranging from my involvement in promoting awareness of the environment to helping provide education for underprivileged children, have enabled me to give back to society. Furthermore, working at Nav Abhiyan NGO, providing healthcare to the less fortunate, and contributing to orphanages have helped me make a difference in my community and empower those around me. Personally, they have helped me develop my emotional intelligence, social awareness, and interpersonal skills. These qualities will continue to be my foundation when pursuing my academic and career aspirations. Further studies at your university will equip me with the necessary skills and help me gain essential industry experience. I am confident in my ability to contribute to the university community, both academically and through club activities. Besides classroom studies, I would like to devote my time to various extracurricular activities I am passionate about, including volunteering and various creative organizations on campus. With this, I will be able to enhance my knowledge and gain experience in working with people from diverse cultural backgrounds and nationalities.

Just like clay being moulded and heated, my experiences in both academics and extracurriculars have shaped me into who I am. I intend for my university experience to be part of a lifetime’s worth of work, perseverance, and dedication. I have worked diligently throughout my high school career to attain good grades and, more importantly, a well-rounded character that reflects qualities needed to fulfill my dreams. I strive to earn success through my dedication to my academics and extracurricular pursuits. I look forward to carrying these traits to and furthering both my personal and professional development at your university, achieving my aspirations.
