Internet activities.
Methodology.
The researcher, who is Brooker Auxier conducted a research in the month of June 2019 a research which was about the right of the people to have some of their personal information being removed from the internet. The research focused of the Americans, who were the main target of the research. Brooker focused of some of the common methods of conducting a research such as interviews and questionnaires where people gave their ideas concerning their personal information being on the internet and accessible to all viewers of internet. There researcher conducted the research in different parts of America to ensure that all the population in America participated in giving out their views concerning the issues under the research. Some of the parts which Brooker focused on included Texas and Washington DC among other towns and cities in America with large populations. The margin of error which was common was the problem of compiling the information from the questionnaires and that from the interviews. The possible weaknesses of the research was that some of the people were not willing to give out their views while others did not understand the question better thereby giving out irrelevant responses. Also, reaching all the regions was a challenge due to the geographical factors which made the accessibility of such areas a problem.
Findings.
From the research, there were some of the common answers and views that people gave concerning their information being published in the internet for the viewers and users of internet to access them freely. The research found that 74% of the youths in United States claimed that it is important to have secrecy of some of personal information and prevent it from reaching the internet users. The research also found that 23% of the youth had a different opinion where they claimed that having their personal information on the internet is an advantage to them since it will help them discover potentially useful information about others. Different people had different perceptions concerning their personal information being on the internet. On the side of the court ruling on the case, there was a claim that about 880000 people had some complains with the Google claiming that it is making them more exposed to a large number of people. The right to be forgotten was a debate which gained more attention in the year 2014 where the court claimed in the ruling that every individual has the right to have his or her information as a secret without being published on the internet.
Finding that differs along some social category.
The issue of negative media coverage had different perceptions from two different groups on the basis of age. For example, about 64% of the people above 65years in United States claimed that there is need to have secrecy of their information on the internet, especially the negative information about them. On the other had about 46% of those between 19 and 29 years championed the act of posting their photos and information about themselves on the internet? Therefore, in that perception, there was a greater different based on the views of different groups. The reason for the adults in the twenties claiming it is important for their information to be on the internet is for them to acquire jobs through posting their information on the internet. The percentage of men who accepted their information to be displayed online were 47% while on the side of the women 32% were for this. Therefore based on the gender issue men were found to be more supportive to their details being displayed online than the women. This could be due to the fact that men are likely to work more than women in most cases due to the need of earning a living to the family.
