Interprofessional team work is the coordination, collaboration, and coordination that is expected among people of various professions to ensure collective delivery of patient-centered care. The setting at a glance here is the clinical setting. It is in a clinical setting that different medical professions can or are expected to work together to ensure that patients are safe. In this health setting, a lot of patients with different ailments interact with medics of different expertise. For these reasons, Interprofessional team work is essential. Here, interpersonal teams are present and they include; medication experts, prescribers, diagnosticians, physicians, and the teams responsible for the daily patient’s need (Bolinger & Leavitt, 2019). One of the team functions that needs improvement in this setting lies in the poor engagement in continuous Interprofessional and professional Development which aims to enhance team performance. Most Interprofessional teams do not attend sessions meant for this because of ignorance. This is an area that needs a lot of investment to ensure active Interprofessional teams, therefore, it needs improvement. Interprofessional collaboration is important to the safety of the patients. If it is not present, safety is at risk since communication is jeopardized.

It would be bad for the persons responsible for ensuring teams thrive to ignore the limitations o some members of the team. Each profession has their own weaknesses and strengths. Concentrating only on the strengths can be deadly for setting a thriving environment in a clinical setting. According to White (2018), developing this action will ensure that members with limitations are taken into consideration and they are given roles which can perform maximally. This is a compassion action which will ensure that people in a specific unit are comfortable and can freely express and show their weakness without the fear that they might be judged. To a larger extend this has a huge impact on the patient outcomes. The patients will be in a passion of being attended to by expertise who are happy and willingly to keenly listen to them spreading the act of compassion that they were also shown. Therefore, making the patient outcome good and one that can be of reference.

Advocacy

A nursing action that could contribute to advocacy is through engaging diverse professions of healthcare that complement their own professional expertise, utilize associated resources, to come up with strategies that meet specific needs of the patients. Not everyone has an expertise on everything, therefore developing an action in which every clinical personal can clearly and boldly advocate for whatever thing they are confident is very crucial. This action will have a positive culture on specific units since people will be able to accept and admit that someone else is better and can perform well in certain fields, thus leaving such tasks to them. It will grow the culture of acceptability (Valentine, 2018). This will be of great importance to the patients since they will be served with combined providers that have great teamwork and communication skills that is key in developing patient’s’ needs. More so, it will lead to patient’s satisfaction since the clinical personnel understand the respective roles and focus on them while attending to the patients.

Thus, ensuring that the profession develop firmly grounded skills that are not dominant. It will develop a culture in which professionals are confident in their day-to-day activities and also, develop professionals who cannot stand when their wage rights are violated since they will be confident in their skills and the values they add to the unit. This will have a positive impact on the patient outcome since continuous assessment and improvement ensure that professionals have the skills in their fingertips therefore, stand a better chance of attending to the patient’s confidently.

Incorporating this action in training and onboarding new nurses is crucial since the new nurses will be taken through the multidisciplinary approach in interacting with both members of the Interprofessional teams and patient’s. This will help them in adapting as well as performing well in their new role. It will ensure that new clinicians have great deals in skills while attending to the patient’s, thus, ensuring maximum positive outputs on the clients’ needs and expectations.
