It is an American drama film which was directed by Von Katja Garnier. It stars Swank Hilary as a suffragist spearhead. Frances O’Connor and Alice Paul as an activist, Julia Ormond and Lucy Burns as Milholland Inez and Huston Angelica as Chapman Carrie Catt. The film was focusing on women’s suffrage in the 1990s in America. It’s about women’s suffrage spearheads Lucy Burns and Alice Paul. The two uses productive and peaceful nonviolent, tactics strategies and dialogues to revolutionize the feminist movement to enhance women right to vote in America. The film Iron Jawed Angels released 15th of February in the year 2004 in America. (Thesis) the purpose of this writing work is to analyze the movie Iron Jawed Angels.

Lucy Burns and Alice Paul have come back from England.they had met there while partaking the women’s political and social union which was started by Emmeline Pankhurst who was suffragette leader, controlled by her spawn Pankhurst Christabel. The two presents a plan concerning NAWSA (National-American Women’s Suffrage-Association).they had started it by organizing 1913-woman suffrage-procession.

Paul requests lawyer Millholland Inez to use a white horse while leading the parade. Paul also met the political cartoonist of Washington newspapers, Weissman Ben. Paul tries explaining to wells b.ida the reason as to why she would like American woman from Africa match behind the parade. Well, decline this. After a disagreement emerged concerning fundraising burns and paul are removed from NAWSA, and they later pound NWP (National-Women’s Party) supporting their approaches. Alice paul start a relationship with Weissman Ben. There are conflicts between the two parties NAWSA leaders tends to criticize NWP. Many women arrested as the NWP protesters, and American government compete.

The women stayed in the Occoquan workhouse for sixty days.

A massive strike was undertaken by paul and her associate women. They forced to feed on raw eggs and milk by a defined group of paid-guards. Suffragists are not allowed to lawyers or visitors until when a United States senator known as tom Leighton decided to pay Emily his wife visit who was among the women imprisoned.it made their inhuman treatment therefor leaking to the media group. Burns Paul and others were released. Pressure on President Wilson continues as NAWS joined NWP calling for nineteenth-amendment for the United States-constitution. President Wilson finally accedes to that pressure than he requested the international-press to fight to enhance equality in Europ as he denies equality benefits to about half the united nation’s population. Burn Harry, a Tennessee legislature receives a telegram during amendments, from her mother in the last minute he changes his, and this made the bill declared.

The film stems its name a representative of Massachusetts known as Walsh Joseph who was unwilling to support the creation of a committee to cater to the women’s suffrage in the year 1917. He thought that by creating the committee, it would result in “the nagging of iron-jawed angels” and he considered the silent sentinels to be “bewildered,deluded creatures with short skirts and short hair. ” The women’s jaws were opened due to use of steel-holding as they were force-fed. It was after sentinel arrests, and the hunger strike emerged in the film’s plot.

The film critic Roeper Richard gave the film very positive review feedback, “iron jawed angels is vital historical teaching told blazingly and freshly.” TV guides Robert Pardi to come up with a mixed review, “.All the elements for a splendid film about the early days of the women’s rights are in place. Still, director Katja Von Garnier’s, use of distracting cinematic trickery and jarringly modern music mesh poorly with the method setting… Blessed with flawless physical production, Von Garnier distorts her epic tale with music that belongs on a Lilith Fair tour; it feels as she and her writers conceived the fight for women’s suffrage as a 1912 version of sex and the city. Only when the anachronisms finally subside in the film’s final third is the moving core is allowed to shine.”

Historians are critical about the film form many reasons. Alice Paul’s sexuality in this film seems to have no sources of historical fact; she was single-minded when devoting to win women suffrage. No evidence is indicating that she was in a sexually intimate relationship to someone, whether female or male. The film tries to creates fictional actors to show a love desire for Paul, Ben Weissman the cartoonist. It indicates that Paul wanted to gain popularity through the newspaperman and in reality, she was very talented publicity.

The film shows paul’s welcome for Ida B. smiling. Its, after wells, joined the procession from the spectators along the way. In reality, this has never happened before, but it means to portray race respect. Paul marched in her gown and cap.
