Job Satisfaction in the Organization

Job satisfaction and employee performance, as an academic concept has attracted attention from the field of management and organizational behavior in recent decades. This scholarly article reviews a wide range of recent research concerning the antecedents as well as outcomes of job satisfaction and employee performance in the organizations. The study conducted in this article attempts to explore the impact of job satisfaction, organization commitment, and Organization Citizenship Behavior (OCB) on employees’ performance (Sawitri, Suswati & Huda, 2016). The topic is appropriate to the focus of the study as it seeks to ascertain the relevance of individual job satisfaction in improving employee performance.  For this study, fair behavior, commitment, and job satisfaction are needed in order for the organization to improve performance among its employees.

The problems were formulated based on the background of the study, which was as follows: (i) Did job satisfaction influence employee behavior, (ii) Did job satisfaction influence the commitment of the organization, (iii) Was job satisfaction influencing employee’s performance (Sawitri, Suswati & Huda, 2016). These problems were clearly stated in the study, and the researchers provided a theoretical rationale for the problems. The significance of the problems formulated in the study is to help present the findings on how job satisfaction influences several aspects of the organization, especially those that determine its performance (Sawitri, Suswati & Huda, 2016).

The study also presents a reviewed literature on job satisfaction, which supported that job satisfaction is a general attitude toward one’s work. When an employee’s needs are recognized and satisfied by the organization, their output increases. This implies that the literature used in this study is relevant. The study used descriptive analysis and multivariate regression analysis with SEM for the research methods to collect, analyze data, and present the results (Sawitri, Suswati & Huda, 2016). Both qualitative and quantitative methods were used, and the sampled utilized in the study was randomly selected..

The hypothesis used in the study included:

H1: Job Satisfaction has a significant influence on Organizational Commitment (Sawitri, Suswati & Huda, 2016).

H2: Job satisfaction has a significant influence on performance (Sawitri, Suswati & Huda, 2016).

These hypotheses were clearly stated.

There were no probable errors that could affect the results of the study. The statistical technique used in the study included estimated coefficients, variables, and level of significance. They were all appropriate given the nature of data analyzed in the study. From the results presented, it was revealed that job satisfaction and organization commitment affects behavior, job satisfaction also influences organizational commitment, but job satisfaction did not affect the employee’s performance. It was established that job satisfaction has a significant effect on overall organizational employee behavior. The limitations in the study were lack of enthusiasm of respondents and difficulty in explaining the variables used in the scope of the research (Sawitri, Suswati & Huda, 2016). As for the conclusions, it was established that job satisfaction influences the organizational behavior of employees; job satisfaction showed a positive effect on employee’s organizational commitment. The data used in the study supports the finding and conclusions. However, the researchers did not generalize the findings. The results and conclusions presented in this study will be useful to show the relationship between job satisfaction and employee’s organizational commitment and performance.
