Briefly state the main idea of this article (in your own words).
The main idea of this article is to promote an anti-bias education, whereby preschoolers are not only taught about the elementary things in education, but they are also taught about global history. These children need to know about past things that happened in the world. Therefore, they do not have to wait until they reach a particular age. The article brings some sense into how teachers should relate with their preschool pupils. It shows that educating the children about “peace heroes” helps them to understand some aspects concerning social justice that they should avoid at all costs. It teaches that children can also understand these topics and behave as required of them.

It helps to guide the critical thinking of the children as well as solving problems around social justice matters.

Other information discussed in this article that is also addressed in other readings is the issues of social injustices like racial segregation that Martin Luther King Jr. fought so hard against. Anyone who reads American history knows for sure that these social injustices had taken an adverse turn during those times. The whites thought that they had so much supremacy, and they enjoyed the privilege of accessing many social amenities at the expense of the blacks because of their skin colour.

Peace Heroes: Activists who fought against social injustices like racial segregation and prejudice in American history.
Anti-bias curriculum: A curriculum that does not teach the students based on their age. It overlooks their ages and teaches them facts about life, considering their social and emotional development.
Social injustice: Discriminating against a particular race because of their skin colours.

It is ideal for preschool teachers to consider teaching their children some aspect of life outside their normal curriculum. Children often have so many questions about the world because of their inquisitive nature. It is only the teachers who can explain to them these questions in detail and help them understand what happens around them. Teachers should be considerate when they handle these topics with children.
