Judaism and Christianity
The total faith of the world accounts for more than two-thirds of the global population. A great majority of the total faith in the world falls in between the twelve main faiths in the world. The twelve religions are termed as the most prominent traditions that are still in existence. There are as well some small religions that are not commonly known in the world and are less referred to. However, because of how the religions have been laid out differently in the world, one might never understand the traditions and the beliefs that have been laid down by the religious people all across the globe. It is, therefore, essential to have an understanding of the difference between Judaism and Christianity.
Judaism
Judaism is known to be the oldest of all monotheistic faiths. The faith confirms the existence of one God and who entered into a covenant with the descendants of Abraham, who are known to the chosen people of God. The holy writings of Judaism have revealed the presentation of God for being with them all through their history. The writings with such presentations are usually called Torah, and they are particularly the five books of Moses (Yoshiko, 1). The origin of Judaism dates back in the 13th century when the families that had descended for Jacob finally migrated to Egypt. Judaism has been ranked as the tenth-largest religion in the world, has approximately 14.5 billion adherents all across the globe.
The Jewish have a belief that there is only one God who has established a covenant with them. The origin of the Jewish has been explained through the Torah and based on the text, and God first revealed himself to Abraham, a Hebrew man who later on became the founder of the religion and their leader. The Jewish people have recognized the Shabbat as the day of prayer and rest. It usually begins on the sunset on Friday and proceeds until the nightfall of Saturday (Yoshiko, 1). There are a variety of sections of Judaism, and they include Orthodox Judaism, Reform Judaism, and many more. Judaism has a great impact on the social reforms where it laid down the fact that all human beings are equal and that we should stop all forms of injustices.
Christianity
Christianity is the primary religion that has stemmed from life to the death of Jesus of Nazareth. Christianity can be termed as the largest religion in the world, and that has widely been diffused among all the other faiths. The main leader of Christianity is Jesus, and his followers came to believe in him after he had died (Maurits, 2). Christianity arose out of Judaism historically and stated that Jesus fulfilled most of the promises of the Hebrew Scriptures. The main philosophy of Christianity is the way of life and bring out the reason for human life and the main reason as to why humans were created.
Some of the major holidays of Christianity include the Good Friday, which is the celebration for the death of Jesus, and the other one is the holy Monday, which is celebrated to mark the anointing of Jesus. Some of the significant rituals that are associated with Christianity include the Holy Communion, marriage rites, and still the religious education of the children and many more rituals (Butler, 3). The primary scripture of Christianity is the Holy Bible that is usually divided into two, where we have the Old Testament and the New Testament. Christianity had a significant impact on ending slavery, human sacrifice, and still the issues of polygamy.
In conclusion, most of the religions date back in the 13th century, and the majority of them are in a way connected to the stories of the bible. All the regions seem to have some particular holidays that they are bound to. It is, therefore, to have an understanding of all the regions, especially the minor ones that have not received much recognition.
