justice as a value and its application at work
The growth of a company is primarily associated with its belief sThe growth of a company is largely associated with its believe system and values such as dissent judgment, and justice among its employees. Justice as a value is moral obligation to act on the fundamental basis of fair adjudication between competing claims. Justice is always linked to states administering fairness when giving a verdict or providing equality when sharing certain resources. it is easy for us as human beings to compromise on this crucial value in our daily activities. in this paper we are going to discuss justice as a value and its application at work.
One of the things that I have always believed is that every individual deserves to be treated with fairness in case something has happened that is against the normal code of conduct or it has interfered with company productivity. During my working career, there was a time when I had to use the principles of justice to solve a problem. There was this time when our company’s information system got hacked after introduction of a virus that interfered with the flow of information. Some of the sensitive data got lost and probably landed on unauthorized hands which posed a threat to the firm. The damage was huge and everybody was looking at the information technology manager for explanations. the crisis panel which I chaired summoned the IT manager to a panel meeting. Many of the members were of the idea that we lay off the IT manager citing incompetence amongst other reasons. However, I felt that by firing the IT manager without determine the root cause of the problem would not be just and therefore suggested that the IT manager steps down and allows an independent audit get done. As the operations manager at that time I had the task of conducting an investigation as to what really happened. After the investigations results were out I realized that the hacking of the company information system was not the IT managers carelessness but because the security component of the system could not block the malware. The hackers had used advanced codes that broke into our security systems. I made recommendations that the IT manager be summoned back to work. I recommended that we develop a strong security system against malicious virus. Had the IT manager gotten fired without proper channels getting followed then that would have been an unjust decision.
