LEADERSHIP
As a student, there are actively learning practices that are appealing to me; they make a connection between where I am and where I want to be in the future. Some of the methods include first-year seminars and experiences, learning communities, undergraduate research, and internships. Learning communities gives a chance to meet and socialize with other people enabling a learner to understand the importance of group work. Internships expose the learner to scenarios that require the knowledge learned in class.
I have been able to exercise leadership in various cases, one of them, including in my class discussion group. I was the group leader, and therefore it was my duty to organize the time and place we would meet. I also held various topics that would be discussed in those meetings. Whenever there was a problem, I had the task of approaching lectures for consultations. During my internship, I was made a leader of the manual laborers who worked in the company. I had the duties of recruiting them and supervising them. It was also my responsibility to remain with them the whole day and offer any technical support required.
I plan to run for an elected seat, preferably as a student leader, before I complete my study. This will allow me to shape my skills as a leader. When I finish school, I plan to become an elected member of parliament. I find pressure in listening to people and solving their problems as a member of parliament that is the main task. I will also have the duty of managing public funds and ensure that they are spent responsibly to benefit society.
