Leadership plays a significant role in any organization
Leadership plays a significant role in any organization. It helps to determine the success or the failure of an organization. Leaders have several roles in their organizations. They help to motivate employees to achieve specific goals and objectives, solve disputes, and ensure that employees work together to achieve common goals. The kind of leadership style adopted determines how well the leader will achieve the organization’s objectives. It also determines the leader’s relationship with the employees. Servant leadership is one of the modern leadership styles that leaders are using to lead their followers effectively. It is a form of leadership where a leader acts as a servant and freely interacts with his employees, thus improving his/her relationship with the employees. This model of leadership can also be implemented in the public sector to address some of the challenges facing the sector. To address the need for servant leadership, the paper discusses the reasons why it is necessary to adopt the servant leadership model to the public sector. Some of these reasons include; the model helps to motivate the employees, creates a good relationship between the leaders and the employee, improved productivity, and appreciates diversity, among other reasons. The model also has some challenges, which include delayed decision-making process, and the process of transitioning from the traditional model of leadership might face resistance by some employees. However, despite the few challenges, the paper concludes by recommending that the public sector should adopt the servant leadership model. This will help improve efficiency, improve productivity, and create an enabling environment for the employees to work in.
