Introduction

In business, the tactics used by those given authority and mandate to manage other employees will determine how the business will progress. They should create a healthy business environment for their employees to work in to meet targets.

 

Part A

Katerina is influential is using this as one of her tactics on her subordinates. She exerts pressure on them to produce quality sales even in the low season. She is making it difficult for them to reach the market goal. To begin with, the market for luxury goods is very competitive. The subordinates will require more than threats for them to work harder. She is displaying too much anger towards the employees trying to make them meet the demands without wanting to care how the market is fairing. She makes constant demands which she expects everyone to follow, including the timelines she sets for everyone to attain goals. Due to this, the employees find it hard to grow nor hardly make any sales. The tactics being used by Katerina are not showing any results. They will not yield any results since they do not just drain the subordinates but also interfere with the mentality of the employees, thereby making it hard for them to work as a team.

Part 2

If at all Katerina wants to enhance the sales by the store managers, there are a lot of things that she must do. This is she must change her tactics to those who will be helpful to the employees. Katerina must (1). Try to set a more realistic sales target for each store manager. For example, her current target sales of 3% every day are impossible as per the store manager’s perception. She can try and have a sit-down and discuss with the managers what sales target they can comfortably attain without feeling they are being pressured. This will give a chance to the store managers to state a sales target they feel is okay with them. Katerina should also try and motivate the store managers instead of pressuring them into doing what they want. By doing this, the store managers will have good working conditions which will enable them to reach their goal easily.

(2) Since the sales have dramatically decreased over the holiday season, the store can try and come up with promotional offers to its customers. The customers are most likely going to do their holiday shopping in the store due to the many offers. The proposals should be preferably the goods that customers find hard to buy if there are no discounts awarded. For example, the gold watches that go for a high price. The promotional rates will come in handy to ensure that these store managers will not only reach their target but also increase the sales dramatically as well. This is also something that Katerina should think about so much.

(3) Katerina should also ensure that she creates a good working environment for these employees as well as motivating them to work as a team. Team working has never failed, especially when they have the right motivation. This is something that Katerina needs to do for the store managers to feel at ease around one another. They will be able to conduct their sales, advertisements, working out problems as a team. This free environment is healthy for the business when compared to the current situation at the store.

Part 3

Being a role manager requires one to be always on their toes when it comes to business. They are responsible for motivating, influencing sales, ensuring that everything in the company is running on well. They are supposed to oversee the matters concerning the business matters concerning the employees, especially ensuring that they feel comfortable as they work. Being abrasive only makes things worse at the organizations just as showcased by Katerina. Katerina is too abrasive in her role as a regional manager. She does this by setting unrealistic targets for her subordinates and not giving them time for them to air out their grievances. The store manager is unable to tell her some of the challenges they are facing since they fear the abrasive behavior showcased by Katerina while at work. If only Katerina would work towards creating a better and healthy business relationship with the store manager, she will be able to note the challenges, the preferences, strengths, and weaknesses that drive the store managers. She should at least give them time to explain their situation, why they are not making any sales or meeting the target, and what they should do to increase the sales. Being a regional manager, Katerina should have the required leadership skills. These skills will help motivate the employees to reach their sales targets. But she does not showcase her leadership skills to her employees but instead sets unrealistic targets for them to meet and does not want to listen to the store managers’ explanation as to why he does not achieve goals.
