Leisure Ideal #1

Celebration

Statement: Celebrations represent a concrete expression of apparent appreciation for the way things turn out in life. Celebrations come in different sizes whereby many people can take part in ceremonies such as during festivals, or it might come in a small package when individuals appreciate themselves or the little things in their lives. Celebrations bring out the genuine emotions of enjoyment which captures the essence of happiness and leisure. Certain activities, such as singing, dancing, cheering among others, allow people to immerse themselves fully in a celebratory mood.

One of my celebrations moments came during a football match in recreation. I enjoy playing soccer very much because it allows me to exercise my body while also excelling in the actual play. During a game in recreation, I scored a superb goal during practice that I appreciated through celebration. My teammates followed me as they cheered to the well-taken effort. As I ran and lay on the ground, my teammates all piled on me as they made happy noises to show their appreciation for my goal. I enjoyed the moment and everyone around. Although it was not a competitive match, I enjoyed having scored a wonder goal and everyone else taking note of the effort.

Leisure Ideal #5 Democracy

Statement: democracy upholds the ideals of equality and respecting the rights and opinions of others without passing judgement. Democracy, therefore, advocates for freedom of the people. As such, without democracy, freedom ceases to exist. Consequently, it becomes apparent that the freedom created by democracy fosters the perfect conditions to enjoy the leisure of freedom. While on the broader spectrum democracy is expressed through free and fair elections, democracy can be applied on a smaller scale such as equally distributed group discussions whereby each of the members is allocated responsibilities according to their levels of expertise.

I got to experience leisure in democracy by observing members in my group discussion. The groups are made up of five members, each whereby each group has a specific leader while other members are allocated responsibilities according to the matter of discussion. Every member seemed highly enthusiastic as they prepared for the meetings to commence. They all came equipped with content and shared to the best of their abilities. Members did not hesitate to seek clarifications whenever they found themselves, not understanding. The mood was always happy, and the participants remained eager to offer more. It was a remarkable experience to see people enjoy doing their duties and giving each other the right amount of space respectably for everyone to make their claims.

Leisure Ideal #12 Love

Statement: love is expressed in the way we care about the things that stick close to us. For instance, when a person is next to another person that they genuinely care for they will act in the manner that maximizes their enjoyment. Similarly, when engaging in activities that a person has a deep concern for, they tend to derive a lot of contentment from such people of actions. When people do what they love most, such activity then becomes their leisure, and they can perform tasks specified on such a field effortlessly. Love allows people to care for what is close to them. Leisure then comes from caring for such activities or people that we are fond of when they around us.

I got to experience love while doing some recreation activities, including keeping the environment us clean. Cleanliness of the environment is held at high esteem, and the young people are encouraged to embrace the same through learning to keep the surroundings clean. Everyone among my peers always looked forward to the collective cleaning exercise when we would dress in safety gears and get to work. Peers interacted openly as we cleaned around in one of the activities that everyone loves taking part.

Leisure Ideal #18 Spiritual Connection

Statement: The aspect of Spirituality connects humanity to higher levels greater than the ordinary everyday life. It pushes humans above casual mistakes and individual egos to clear the mind such that the connectedness is increased between the body and the supernatural. It also guides people to observe ethical virtues in their practices such that they remain in line with a higher power that surpasses human abilities.

I got to experience spiritual transcendence during recreation as I took part in dancing as part of my leisure. Leisure, in this case, refers to freeing of the spirit so that the body is immersed in a specific condition. I enjoyed dancing because it allowed me to go beyond the routine of the steps. It allowed me to take on other personas as I alternated dance moves. In a solo set piece, I would begin slowly as I slowly delved into the core of the music. In so doing, I would let go of the body and move with the waves of the music. Such was the leisure of dancing solo during this time. I also enjoyed group dances as they allowed the group to connect on every note and turn within dance styles.
