Supervision in social work practice involves an agency or a person that is in a position of leadership meeting regularly with social work practitioners to evaluate their work. It is important to note that supervision is not about the exercise of power over the subject. It can be used to help social work practitioners develop new experiences and skills that in the long run, will improve their confidence levels of a social work practitioner. Usually, supervision is done by a person that bears knowledge and skills and is accountable and responsible for social work practitioners. According to Linda toryaks post, I would suggest that social work providers need to welcome evaluation as it ensures that social workers follow relevant standards and procedures to achieve competence in practice (Hughes, 2010).

During intervention approaches, social work practitioners commonly meet with clients who are optimistic about changing, but regardless, they still exhibit adverse outcomes. According to our lady of the lake university (OLLU), strengths and problems have been assessed using perspectives and relevant theories across the life span of an individual. According to OLLU, people regularly interact with social systems, which significantly influences the behavior of an individual in the long run. It is worth noting that the environment and the genetic predisposition affects the behavior of an individual (OLLU, 2020). Putting into consideration the factors the environment predisposes, the social work practitioner should critically evaluate the progress report given to the probation officer and the progress report presented to the family.

Evaluating interventions that have been conducted on a client is one of the effective strategies in validating the approaches that have been used for responses. Keeping a closer watch at a client’s progress increases the accountability and professionalism of a social work provider. The most reliable evaluation approaches are those that have been conducted at the end of an intervention process. Because evaluation is in two folds i.e., supervisor to social work practitioner and social work practitioner to the client. There are several methods of assessment; however, it is not easy to pick an appropriate evaluating strategy. Supervisors are, therefore, encouraged to expose the new stuff to a training module involving work placement and supervision. Such training for a therapist is essential in ensuring accurate identification of strengths and weaknesses exhibited by a client (Morton, 2020).
