Allow me to consider the idea that makeup should not be allowed in schools. The immediate suggestion would be that adverse effects such as bullying may occur as a result of wearing makeup. The ideology is that, by a school making a rule where no individual can wear makeup, everybody looks the same. Through this, learners are blurred as a group in uniform to reduce differences and, therefore, things to pick on.

It could get said that the school is no beauty pageant, so it is not the place to express yourself. Who cares what you look! Learners who want to wear makeup can save it for when they are at home, where they can paint their faces to their hearts’ content. The focus of school should be education and not how you look.

A school is a place where moral values and virtues usually taught. It would be fair to say, putting makeup on to show off isn’t one of them. It may sound like a cliche, but inner beauty is more important than your appearance. That is what schools are trying to teach us, despite the avalanche of magazines and TV ads with movie stars and models.

If makeup was a ban in schools, a lot of disputes could be alleviated, which should make for a better learning environment.

In most of the schools, adverse effects occur to learners as a result of wearing makeup. Therefore, learning institutions should ban powder completely for the well being of the student. Below are various reasons as to how composition negatively affects learners;

• Makeup causes a student distraction from studying. It is through headaches caused by excessive use of cosmetics. Some ingredients in many cosmetic products are used as an antimicrobial preservative. These chemicals are known to cause problems, irritation of the mucous membranes, and cause damage to the eyes.

Therefore, schools should ban makeup completely because it distracts students from learning.

• It makes learners look untidy; makeup causes skin allergies to students using it. Some chemicals such as parabens used in cosmetics can cause various allergic reactions like skin irritation, blotches, and blemishes on the skin. Another common allergen in cosmetics is Salicylate, which can cause an outbreak of painful rashes or hives if you have sensitive skin.

This allergic reaction makes students who are using it to look untidy. Therefore, it should not be allowed in schools.

• Makeup can result in student bullying; because of skin discoloration and premature aging observed to those school teens using it.

Makeup can cause skin discoloration to school learners who are using it; most school children are unaware that several skin products contain agents that bleach or darken the skin. Cosmetic products that use inferior quality ingredients which have not regularities can lead to skin discoloration.  With time, they could begin to see skin aging signs like wrinkles or patchiness on their face and body.

Therefore, this leads to students bullying the affected, hence, making them uncomfortable in their studies.

In conclusion, wearing makeup in schools, as discussed above, can have adverse negative effects on student school activities such as studying. The best way to avoid these effects is by not allowing makeup in school.
