Education, especially a college education, is a great investment for the entire economy, which brings many benefits to the entire economy. However, in some colleges, there has been a trending tendency where tuition fees have been rising, something which has made many students and parents be stranded because the students’ debt in those higher institutions of learning has grown. Therefore, student debts and the fact that many students tend to be dropping out of schools has called for a debate on whether college education should be free or not. It is a debate which, for many years, has elicited mixed reactions as many people support the introduction of free education programs while others opine the opposite, that free college education is not a good move for the economy. For the economic security of every nation and state, each generation ought to be educated since this would allow every individual to confront all sorts of challenges like technological, environmental, and even the social challenges. There has been a call for free access to colleges by both parents, students, and other members of the entire community, who argue that there is no need to make students get blocked out of the higher institutions of learning just because they cannot afford to pay school fees. Many professionals, ranging from politicians, economists, academics, and philosophers, have come out with various reasons which support and oppose the argument on whether college education should be free. If college education was to be made free, then why should it be so? Making college education to be free shall boost the economic growth of the state, unlock opportunities for the poor, and avoid the higher debts that people get saddled with after college.

Making college to be free shall work to the advantage of the entire economy since this shall allow for better economic growth for the entire state; therefore, it is so advisable to have an economy that supports the notion of a free college education. The economy of every state is determined by education since all the prerequisite building blocks of every economy lies in the education system of the respective state (Bynner, Morgan, and Muriel, par. 10). The fact that education beyond high school is imperative in improving livelihoods does not necessarily imply that it would work its way up to building a stronger economy; though many people argue that introducing free education in colleges shall bring negative impacts to the economy, it is evident that making the colleges to be free shall make an improvement to the economy. Every economy demands a workforce which is so proficient and competent in all various field to ensure that there is progress which is aimed towards achieving the whichever objectives and goals of the state (McMahon and Walter, par 8). However, without further education, past secondary schooling, these proficiencies and competencies in various fields of the economy shall never come to be true. Therefore, the fact that a state can make it easy for almost every citizen to achieve college education, is that they can work om their expertise and experiences, is a good idea which shall enable almost every individual to be so proficient that they can work hard toward ensuring that the state’s goals of stabilizing the economy are achieved.

Many people have been rendered unable to make ends meet in life because of the opportunity which they missed out on during their school days; therefore, making college education to be free shall work towards ensuring that no more citizens are locked out on opportunities. It so evident that lack of college education, in many, states has contributed to higher levels of poverty and other forms of crimes. The fact that there exist many low-income families, who could not afford the college fees, had led to the increasing population of individuals who are short of college level of education. After high school many parents and children are rendered helpless on the next point of turn to take in life since they find it so unbearable to make their children go through college; this is due to the lots of dollars which they have to raise in the effort of ensuring that their children get past secondary schooling (Trostel, par. 8). However, it proves to be so hard for parents and children from poor backgrounds to make it through post-secondary education. Therefore, this has made many families miss out on some opportunities which they could have grabbed to better their living standards. College education seems to more of a preserve of the rich families because the humble within the society cannot manage to afford the college fees. Only if the government can introduce free college education, that is when the poor-who have been locked out of certain opportunities-shall come to enjoy equal benefits like the rest to improve their living standards.

Introducing free education in colleges shall also ensure that there are no debts which many students grapple with after graduation. For many individuals who had graduated from colleges with pending debts, they hard underwent too much pain since they find it so hard in life to pay the debts. Struggling to pa these debts come with so many sufferings and struggles, which has made many debtors suffer a bout of depression. Graduating from college and struggling to pay the debts which individuals accrued during their days in college are two different things which have left many graduates to be desperate. Multitasking between catering for the needs of one’s family from the little they earn, after college, and saving money to pay the college debts has never been an easy task (Witmer, par 9). For instance, many college graduates are still suffering from some psychological disorders as they fathom on how best they can work towards balancing their lives through the low-paying work and family commitments; they find the college debts which accumulated during their days at college to be so much of a burden which stagnates their personal growth. But how can such psychological disorders, which become part of graduates’ lives, be eliminated to ensure that the graduates only focus on productive ideas once they are done with school? The best way to achieve this is to ensure that free college education is introduced so that graduates do not get into the habit of struggling their ways out on how they can pay debts; this is so devastating.

Consequently, the idea of making college education to be free is a good idea because it shall boost the economic growth of the state, unlock opportunities for the poor and avoid the higher debts that people get saddled with after college. A state which is lacking in the right skills and knowledge to propel its growth shall end up lagging behind other economies. Thus the only way through which the states and governments can work towards benefitting from proficient skills is by making college education to be free so that everyone can acquire the post-high school knowledge. Besides, Free college education shall ensure that every individual is allowed to work towards achieving their dreams; thus, no one shall get to be locked out from doing their best. Moreover, it shall as well ensure that the psychological disorder of baffling with debt payment after graduation is eliminated.
