MANAGEMENT AND ORGANIZATION
The course concept that I chose is interview and resume. I put the concept into practice in my part-time job when new employees come seeking employment opportunities. Despite being a part-time employee, I had to request my employee to allow me to be part of the team that interviews new applicants so I would get a chance to experience how the whole thing is handled within the company.
The steps that I decided to take so I would ensure that I have put the concept into practice is, requesting for a chance to be part of the interviewing team, gathering the applicant’s resumes and preparing the appropriate questions to ask the applicants. When it comes to requesting my employee so I could be part of the team, it was not easy on my side. Being a part-time employee means that I am not in a massive position in my place of work, but I had to explain how important it was for me due to the evidence that my course needed. I yearned to be part of those who interviewed others because I wanted to hear what others had to say concerning the questions they were asked since we do not get a chance to listen to other’s views, especially in cases where you asked one by one. Ensuring that the applicants are on time, their attire is very professional, how they express themselves, and later see their feedbacks concerning how the interview went.
Another is gathering the resumes of the applicants. When it comes to looking at the resume, I ensured that they met how it is supposed to be put. Some of the ways are ensuring that the resume is just one page and not more or less than that. I had to go through the resumes to ensure that they are all consistent and kept their primary focus on their duties and accomplishments. The resumes that missed these tips had to be put aside as the ones that met the entire tips were given a priority. This was a good experience for me because I was able to learn how to analyze resumes and what was required when it comes to writing resumes. And in preparing the questions, I ensured that they were well organized and very comfortable for every applicant. Questions that did not provoke them emotionally like making them cry or bring back any memories. Some of the questions were like, the relevance of working as a team. It is necessary because there is a need for an applicant to know how to work as a group since it makes tasks easier to accomplish. And knowing their current experience while working as a group is essential because it makes it easier to identify their capabilities when given a job. Also, knowing how courageous an employee is to an extend of standing up for something right when no one is in support of it is very relevant. This is because they will always make the company stand out and be ahead of the competitors. The language, if they have been convicted of any crime, is also relevant.
I learned a lot when I got the chance to be part of the team. The very relevant lesson I learned is how to handle different individuals. Each of them has different approaches to answering the questions during interviews. From the resumes, I learned that they had different experiences. Thus, it is essential to learn how to handle various people, especially since they are from diverse backgrounds. I the future, I would do the same thing because accepting the way a person is very relevant.
