Management commitment
Question One
Management commitment entails direct engagement by the top management of the organization in all critical aspects of the organization, like safety and quality. Axon has adequately laid down measures for improving management commitment. It has engaged in the six black belts project to enhance the production of the company’s product to foster the quality of the products. The involvement of Bill Denzel in the project indicates the positive effort of the company towards management commitment since it contributed to the enhanced production of quality goods. Moreover, Axon has successfully achieved the need of having measuring systems to track progress, robust goal setting, and communication. Its effort in installing a computer monitor above each work cell helped the company to monitor and track progress along with setting tough goals for the company. Computer monitors habitually allow businesses to streamline processes and disseminate information to the workers quickly, thus fostering communication within the company. Therefore, Axon’s effort on installing computer monitors in the company is positive because it contributed to enhanced communication and setting tough goals within the firm. It also led to improved performance and production of the company by tracking the activities of the employees.
Question Two
The commitment of the company to employee engagement might help the firm to avoid the cost of poor performance and quality through helping to verify the content and the standards of the products before shipment. The participation of the employees in the production process would help the company to detect various faults in the products. Hence it would help in ensuring the production of quality products, which will resultantly prevent the firm from incurring the cost associated with poor quality products. Likewise, the engagement of the workers would assist the firm from bearing the costs associated with performance appraisals since they will be part of the production process. It will enable the top management of Axon to closely monitor the activities and commitment of the employees towards achieving the goals of the company without performing performance appraisal. Thus, it will resultantly prevent the firm from incurring the cost associated with appraisal to assess the poor performance of the workers. Moreover, engaging the workers in the production process of the firm can assist Axon to determine both the internal failures and external failures. Hence it would capacitate the firm to devise measures of addressing the failures to protect the company from incurring the cost associated with poor performance and poor quality of the product.
Question Three
The total quality management approach is a structured mechanism for the entire organizational management. It usually aims at fostering the quality of the output of the organization. Axon majorly uses quality circles as an approach of total quality management to promote the quality of its products. The approach majorly entails cutting the authority buffer through empowering the workforce to develop solutions. The approach relates to customer satisfaction through contribution to the production of quality goods that meet the needs of the customers in the market. Satisfying the needs of the consumers will result in customer satisfaction. The approach also relates to employee engagement because it empowers and involves the workers in the production processes of the firm to assist offer solutions. Also, it relates to continuous improvement by providing solutions aimed at enhancing the quality of products to satisfy the needs of the customers.
