Reading the article “Managing Myself” by Peter F. Drucker, I have learned several ways I should manage myself. Management of my activities and time is essential in daily life. People require having knowledge on how they can manage themselves. The author asks his first questions on what your strengths are? Every person in every field or sector of life, his strengths and weaknesses. Unfortunately, more people are aware of their weaknesses than what they are good at. However, to identify what I am good at, I should consider the feedback analysis from my employer. Also, I can realize my strengths by recording down what might happen and compare it with the expected outcomes after some time. The feedbacks would provide me with reviews and areas that need improvement or correction. Further, comprehending the significance of etiquette would also help me know the strength one I have. I need to understand the skills and abilities I am good at. Finally, I would be capable of measuring my strength by assessing the possibilities of cooperating with others. Individuals who do not collaborate with others at their workplaces have high chances of not succeeding.

“How do I perform?” Is the second question in the article? The author vividly outlines that one needs to understand if they are readers or listeners. Consequently, every person has his or her thinking level, and it is not easier for one to change it. Therefore, the primary way to succeed is to work hard and focusing on mission and vision. Additionally, one can collaborate with others to gauge and evaluate how one performs. Another question Ducker asked was, “what are my values?” It is not easier for one to determine their prices or value unless others give feedback.  Whenever one is employed in a working environment, they require aligning their values with that of the organization. Nonetheless, it is vital to note that people realize their values when they associate with others.  The fourth question Ducker also answered is, “where do I belong?” Everyone desires to have a belonging..

Nevertheless, a small number of individuals know where they belong at their younger age. Many individuals realize where they belong at their tender age. However, Ducker highlights that a person determines where he belongs by comprehending his values, strengths, and capabilities to execute.

On the other hand, the article of managing my boss by John G. Gabarro and John P. Kotter, I have learned that it is vital for me to understand my boss. Managers need respect from their juniors. According to Gobarro and Kotter, an employee is different from his or her employer; thus, their opinions also differ. At one given time, conflicts might cause a rise in the workplace or organization. I require understanding what the director or boss like and dislike and how to talk to him or her. Nonetheless, respect and honesty are paramount when one needs to understand his or her boss.

I also learned that for me to manage the boss, I should be capable of understanding myself. I should have mastered my strengths and weaknesses. I should be honest and have respect for others. I should also not be arrogant or have other bad behaviors like stealing, being late, or gossiping. Additionally, for me to manage my boss, I need to collaborate and show interest in whatever the task I am assigned. Finally, I also require comprehending the relationship between my boss and me.
