The research participants involved high school student most of them teens and others in their twenties. These population groups of shooters are mostly fellow students to each other who at the end, killed their colleagues and afterwards killed themselves. The studied serial killers were discriminative in the murder of fellow students. They chose students who were athletes, minority groups and Christian faith-based as their victims.
How was the research conducted (describe what the researchers did)?
The researcher utilized analysis from both primary and secondary data. For instance, the evaluated and analyzed information embedded in the lyrics of a song titled Pumped Up Kicks by Foster, a group of folks which had debuted in 2010 and had attracted a lot of public attention. The lyrics in this song which states, “All the children with pumped-up kicks you’d better run, better run, outrun my gun…You’d better run, better run, faster than my bullet” implies a deeply hidden information correlated to the massive life loss during the Columbine mass shooting that occurred in 1999 (Ash & Saunders 2018). The researchers also analyzed the diaries and writing materials recovered during the investigation after the Columbine and Virginia Tech shooters at catastrophes. The research was additionally conducted based on media reports and newspaper statistical publications on the number of students who succumbed after every mass shooting. Short interviews and questionnaires were carried out on the survivors of shooting to get the actual occurrence of events. The researcher also inferred the United States Congress implemented bill and other legislation involving control and regulation of gun ownership especially model AR-15 guns that most of the shooter used to commit the ossific acts, however, the case was allowed to lapse over time.

The study findings indicated that the mass shooting severity had 70% probability of occurrence in the course of the state ban” and “the assault weapons ban timespan was due to an estimated 85% decline in mass shooting severities (Skylar, Alexis & Sophia, 2019). Some of the killer students were not using automated guns reserved in their residents; most of them utilized what was accessible and readily available to them from their own homes.

The conclusion derived therein is; the socio-cultural communities have been influenced by cultural practices and albeit the promptness in embracing cultural diversity, a lot of people groups are still advocating for their beliefs. They are ready to take extreme measures to mobilize their ideas, causing havoc on society. Even though the conflict is based on ethnic groups, religion, race, there is a substantial correlation between cultural principals and mass school shootings as revealed through patterns in mass murderers’ victims. This prompts diversifications from the ethics of gun regulation and towards the ethics of the media and how these tragedies are reported. Guns have been legal in the USA since the second amendment in 1791 (Skylar, Alexis & Sophia, 2019). Why are mass shootings in schools only getting rapid now and is such a big issue? Advanced weaponry and automatic weapons certainly can aid it, but this cannot be the only reason. What might have revolutionized the American culture and triggered these violent acts? The media praises the serial killers. Their names published in every newspaper and highlighted on all TV channels (Skylar, Alexis & Sophia, 2019). While these shooters nearly neglected and molested by classmates, but after the mass shooting, their names appear publicly and are famous before the whole world. This mobilizes other children who are in the same sad and mentally depressed situations to react similarly and their names praised and revered by many.
