Maturity Stages.
Conceptual knowledge of technology- at this stage, the CEO of the organization should demonstrate the ability to learn and articulate critical issues concerning the use of technology in the business (Langer, 2017). For instance, the organizational structure, various ethical issues, and the alternatives styles of leadership. In that way, the CEO will know of the manner to make use of technology in a manner that will benefit the organization.
Multiplicity of business perspective of technology – in this stage, the CEO will demonstrate the ability to integrate multiple viewpoints of stakeholders in the organization about the use of technology. Such stakeholders will include the general staff, the management, and other consultants. In that way, the CEO will be able to add to his or her body of knowledge about the manner technology can be used in the organization to create the most benefit.
Integration of Business uses of technology – at this stage, the CEO who is maturing will learn of new ways through which technology can be used in the process of supporting businesses and therefore create a competitive advantage (Langer, 2017). At this stage, the leader will learn of the manner to utilize conceptual skills in technology, various organization structures, and an ethical system to create effective leadership.
Implementation of Business/technology Process – at this level, CEOs will succeed in integration if they will be able to use their knowledge of technology, ethical system, and organizational structure in a manner that is adequate and in a way that creates a competitive edge for the firm.
Strategic use of technology – At this level, the CEO will attain competency in leadership when he can create a new vision about the manner that business and technology can be exploited together to create new opportunities for the company. That will be through the leader developing new ethical systems, developing a sense of executive presence, and creating new organizational structures.
Performance Dimensions.
Technology Concepts – this dimension deals with ensuring that the CEO is conceptually competent in determining the manner that technology can be used in the organization. That will provide the foundation for dealing with more complex stages of the business or technology development.
Organization Structures – in this dimension, there is a need for the CEO to have an intricate knowledge of alternative organizational structures. Notably, such alternative structures will assist in the process of implementing emerging technologies in the workplace (Langer, 2017). To give an example, in terms of assigning roles, determining career paths, and the creation of organization reporting alternatives.
Executives Values – this dimension will be used in the process of evaluating the ability of the CEO to articulate and implement the contemporary ethical values which are vital in the process of shaping the work ethic. Such values will include individual identification with career goals, being honest, having personal initiative, and being dedicated.
Executive Ethics – in this dimension, it will be concerned with the manner the CEO shows dedication to the education and professional development of organizational behavior. As well, the CEO will demonstrate the ability to link the process mentioned above with the manner that technology is used in business. Therefore, that will ensure that technology is used to create a positive impact on the organization and society as a whole.
Executive Leadership – the dimension will involve the manner the CEO views his or her role as an executive in the business. It will assess his or her ability to succeed, given the resources that are available in the organization (Langer, 2017). As well, it will determine the ability of the CEO to embrace self-growth and improvement and solve issues that occur in business. Also, it will evaluate the level of resilience on the part of the CEO when faced with workplace challenges.
