Media for Dissemination of Outbreak Information
After the investigation is done and the outbreak of a disease recognized, dissemination of information to the public is essential. This is because, on an epidemic, several people are at risk of being ill since the disease is spreading fast. It is, therefore, vital for them to have the information early enough for them to apply precautions to avoid infection. Dissemination of information is also essential to healthcare staff because it will make them prepare for more patients and even make them put on necessary measures or clothing to avoid infection. This article will discuss the means of dissemination of information I will use to pass the information to the society effectively.
Nowadays, most people depend on social media to acquire information or news. This provides the most convenient way of disseminating health information in case there is an outbreak. This is because the information will be accessed by many people through social media as compared to other means. Due to the confirmed case of the outbreak of Ebola in the Democratic Republic of Congo, I will use the most accessed social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter to inform the public of the risks, the vector, and also how to prevent the disease (Zhao, 2016). To ensure that it reaches millions of people, I will put the information in an eye-catching manner, probably an image, and also caption it with information requesting whoever is reading it to share widely. The risk of being infected by Ebola is traveling to Congo since the disease is transmitted through fluid contact or using infected needles. The vector of Ebola is bats, but research has also found the virus in Chimpanzees. There several precautions of preventing infection and the spread of the Ebola virus. These precautions include avoiding areas of known outbreaks, contact with infected people, to wash hands frequently and to avoid bush meat. This will ensure that many people are save from the disease since the information will reach many people.
