MEDICATION USED TO TREAT MEN AND WOMEN DISORDER.

The urinary system, specifically the urinary tract for both men and women, experience some disorders. Urinary drugs used to treat disorders of the urinary tract are also used to manage the diseases of kidneys, ureters, the bladder, and urethra. Urinary tract infection is more common in women than men because of the shorter urethra. Examples of such diseases are Inflammation of the urinary tract, inflammation of bladder called cystitis, inflammation of the urethra called urethritis, incontinence, and urinary retention. Some drugs act in the urinary system, specifically in the kidney, and they are used to treat cardiovascular disorder like high blood pressure and oedema. E.coli bacteria cause all urinary tract infections. They are usually treated with antibiotics that are effective against Gram-negative bacteria. A 3-day course of trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole (TMP-SMX) combined with a sulfa drug is a useful course. Also, bacterial infections can be treated by increasing the intake of vitamin C and fruit juices that increase the acidity of urine. As a result, the bacteria are prevented from multiplying. Cranberry juice suppresses the growth of the infections and temporarily increases the acidity of urine. Moreover, it prevents the bacteria from sticking to the wall of the bladder. Drinking more fluids also helps to flush the urinary system.

Urinary analgesic drugs are used as painkillers to treat pain from surgery, infections and procedures. They do not get rid of the diseases. However, they are taken orally and excreted in urine to offer a pain-relief on the urinary tract lining. An example of such a drug is phenazopyridine. Urinary incontinence is of different types, which can be treated, different. For instance, stress incontinence can be treated with Kegel exercises. On the other hand, antispasmodic and anticholinergic drugs can treat urge incontinence. The drugs smoothen the muscle contraction of the wall of the bladder and block the Ach action to allow more urine to collect without bringing about the urge to urinate.

Urinary retention can be treated by either catheterization, surgery, administration of drugs that prevent the enlargement of the prostate, Para sympathomimetic drugs, or alpha-blocker drugs. Diuretic drugs such as alcohol and caffeine increase the volume of urine. They are the ones that treat blood pressure and oedema. They prevent the reabsorption of sodium and potassium and keep water in the tubule. However, Pregnancy and preterm labour drugs such as contraceptives should not be taken together with alcohol and cigarettes. Alcohol abuse during pregnancy deprives off folic acid, which is vital for pregnant women. Tocolytic therapy is used to prevent premature labour. Pregnant women in preterm labour and steroids use betamethasone and Dexamethasone. Also, prostaglandins and oxytocin are used to induce labour. Men who experience erectile dysfunction use drugs such as sildenafil citrate, Vardenafil, and Tadalafil to treat the condition. Some drugs are used by women to treat infertility, their health and sexually transmitted infections.
