Minimum wage is the minimum amount of salary that a company or a manager has to pay the workers for the work they have done within a given period. The minimum wage cannot be decreased by a shared or and individual agreement. I am confident that introducing a minimum wage law on the hospitality industry will meaningfully advance the income levels. However, the government must make sure the hospitality operators implement strategies that will enable them to improve the pay mechanisms to ensure that a minimum wage rate is met.

Most of the jobs in the service industry are done part-time, and they hardly pay beyond the minimum wages. However, if many servants are asked why they prefer working in the service industry, they would say that the service industry has a wide variety of jobs available. The hospitality industry is classified to be a service industry since it offers many part-time jobs. In the hospitality industry, the aspect of paying minimum wage is practiced by a group of fast-food restaurants. In most restaurants, some workers are highly compensated, while others are lowly compensated. For example, bartenders and servers have a chance to take a huge amount of money a night while the dishwashers frequently make a portion of that money. Therefore, it essential for the management to ensure that tipping is not allowed for any employee, and whoever will be involved will be charged. Service charges will enable the tips to be shared equally among the employees.

Turnover rate involves a given portion of workers leaving an organization or an industry within a particular period. The departure of personnel will make the company incur some losses and waste a lot of time since the number of workers who have left needs to be replaced and trained. Industries such as the hospitality industry should ensure that there are low turnover rates to avoid leaving the most active and critical positions open. Leaving the vital positions open for an extended time will affect the industry negatively hence leading to low productivity.

Additionally, the top management in the hospitality industry should ensure that low turnover rates are maintained and well observed in the industry. More so, having turnover rates in the industry is a thing that every manager cannot avoid. Therefore, to conquer turnover rates is to ensure that no abuse and mishandling of the employees in the industry. However, the management can also reduce the turnover rates by building a strong relationship with the other staff. This can be achieved by involving them in the decision making of the organization. Enabling them to participate in decision making and giving out their views, they will feel that they are considered as part of the company, and every contribution they add to the company is valued.

Furthermore, hiring and recruiting the right candidates such as Hotel Concierge, Executive Chef, and Server who are well specialized in the hospitality industry will make the whole industry to be productive. Assigning duties to skilled people, they will inspire and motivate workers to focus on a common goal for the company. The organization must define its goals and objectives so that the staff can be aware of and understand those goals correctly. Consequently, every team should be aware that within a given period a there is something positive that the organization expects from them. Any problem or something that the employees have done wrongs a good manager should ensure that he or she gets back to the workers as soon as possible using the right communication skills. It is also upon the member to make sure that individual performance is recognized. Recognition can be made by rewarding them for what they have achieved for the whole hospitality industry. Such credit will motivate workers to work harder and contribute effectively to the organization’s goals.
