The value of the films

Tuskegee men success against the odds.

Tuskegee men were the first black American air combat. From the beginning, they were grouped as other black Americans. What followed was a case of success after fighting the enemies abroad.

Their success in the Tuskegee men begun at an unfortunate situation and turned it positively. The young black men were ambitious, and selection to join the army was not the same as white counterparts. Entrance to the army was an “experiment “the men were selected so that they fail and would use that as an excuse for why the black Americans were inferior. Instead of becoming victims of situations, the group perform well and become national heroes. The whites did not look at the color when the team won.

In the film, the black American face direct racism in an unfortunate situation. Syphilis infection among blacks was high. Eunice Evers is sent by the government, which comprised of whites to tell the suffering blacks that the government would treat syphilis for free. Those who decided to take treatment did not get healed because no treatment was conducted on them. The men received fake syphilis treatment made of mercury and placebos for long. By nature of the black color, penicillin was the discovery, and the three selected black Americans continued with the procedure using the face medicine and could not get cured. One of the black Americans in the syphilis experiment gets penicillin treatment after joining World War 2, but his colleagues cannot get treated because they are part of an investigation.

Are films healing or causing more harm?

Everything has a history, and history defines someone. The films help us understand the pain and suffering of fighting racism. The movies are teaching society how far the world’s freedom of speech and movement rights came with pain. Preparing the organization enlightens and helps an individual appreciate the different global histories and act as sources of information for future generations.

Can these films help us to identify how racism manifests itself today and solutions viable?

The cruelty faced by the blacks was eliminated, but the racism currently takes another form. The racism film structure shows that racism is not only when blacks are mistreated by whites but on other types. All over the film, instances of racism when whites appear in favor of the dark. Currently, racism through racial profiling, stereotypes, prejudice, and bias.

Solution

Apart from external situations, currently, most instances, if racism occurs internally through the factors stated above and fighting racism, is a journey that commences internally and explodes externally if not controlled. To fight racisms requires individual internal racial control strategies like;

1. Examine personal biases and the source of the bias.
2. Learn and appreciate other people’s cultures.
3. Validate the experiences and feelings of people of color by taking part in discussions by stating how racism occurred.
4. Stop racism, jokes and statements.
