Misuse of Technology
INTRODUCTION
Technology brought a radical change in the world. It helped in the development of businesses, smooth passage of the information, and easy way of reaching other people despite their geographical location. Despite all the advantageous things caused by technology, there are still some problems which the evolution of technology has created. When technology is used for the wrong motive or to cause problems in society, it’s a misuse. Where some people are using it to commit a crime, spread of incorrect information, and affecting the interaction of people in society. It has changed the way people conduct themselves in the education sector, the business sector, and even in the family levels. We get that most of the people spend most of their time in their garget than also they interact with other people around them. Some in the family have caused conflicts because of lack of communication among partners and parents with their children since everyone is busy using the technology hence loss of control in the family. Thus technology has caused deterioration of interaction in the families, businesses, and even in the education sectors where the creativity of the students is very low. Therefore, the following are going to find out which is the best solution for this problem? Which solution should start first?
The use of technology has affected the interaction between people since most of the time; people are busy using their devices. Even in business, instead of people having a physical meeting which will help in maintaining teamwork in the organization, people have decided to be held online meetings instead(Atkinson, Dookie, Jagger, Jao, Kim, Oztok, Romkey, Tan, Thomas, & Zingaro, 2014, p.110). This has affected most organizations since every person will be working on their own without minding the view of others in the organization. This becomes so hard to harmonize the employees and ensuring everyone works towards the organization’s goal. Don't use plagiarised sources.Get your custom essay just from $11/page
The use of technology in our day to day activities has a significant effect on our brains. Our brains are shaped by the way we think and interact with the environment around us. The use of technology has affected our memories and even our attention. In the current world, technology has brainwashed many people, also affecting the education sector. This is because people have changed their memories into technology use (Bessner, 2018, p.462). This is where people do not want to remember even simple things, but they are keeping their minds in technology to remind them. For example, most of the people set their calendars in their devices to remind them of the events ahead of them. Technology has also affected the students since they don’t want to retain even the simple concept studied since they rely on technology to remind them and help them to answer any question they have. This has caused the ability of students’ creativity to be low since they don’t want to use their mind to think about anything as long as technology is there. Hence, the lack of innovation and development of new ideas in the market and schools.
Brainwashing affects the way we think and conduct ourselves. This is because technology makes people live a life that is not theirs. This is because many people will tend to think and behave according to what they usually engage with. We can identify if one is brainstormed if he or she is affected by the thinks of technology and adapting a lifestyle dictated by another person or from the technology instead of exercising their full potential (Hunter, 2019, p.78). How to solve the brainwashing problem may include the following methods;
Firstly, understanding who we are. Mostly students at school need to take their time evaluating themselves. This will help them to deeper understand their strengths and weaknesses. Through these, students will be in a position to understand what they can do best, and they cultivate in those areas hence making the right choice and decisions in their lives. But, those who don’t understand themselves are easily carried away by the technology effect and taking whatever may come on their way because they don’t know who they are and what they can do better (Carruthers, 2009, p.145). But those who understand who they are they are firm in the decisions they make and are not easily influenced.
Secondly, being open and grounded. One needs to use technology to seek information since we are not all-knowing. For one to avoid brainwashing, one needs to find the info require concerning the issue and get a deeper understanding of the same. This will help to make their own decision without being affected by other people’s views and opinions concerning a particular subject (Bialystok, 2014, p. 420). Through the use of technology, one can watch movies, read articles written by other people hence increasing the level of the knowledge they have concerning a given issue. Therefore, the individual will be knowledgeable and cannot be easily carried away by other people’s views. Thus, the best solution to work is ensuring that people use technology with good intentions. It should be used to enhance the interaction of people despite their locality, and technology should be used to improve the skills and creativity of people without brainwashing them.
CONCLUSION
Technology contributes positively to the growth of the economy and also in the education sector if used with good intentions. Technology helps most of the people to carry out their businesses effectively and to connect easily with their customers. In the education sector, information is obtained so quickly, and also classes can continue without necessary students gathering in a lecture room. Even though if technology not used carefully can be destructive. Where it may lead to a reduction of interaction level between individuals as well as brainwashing. Therefore, technology users should be open-minded and well-grounded. It will help them to overcome the brainwashing effect that may be caused by the use of technology. One needs to be using it to seek information and increasing their level of knowledge. It will offer the best solution for overcoming brainwashing problem.
