My enticement in Biomedicine
My enticement in Biomedicine started with an unfortunate incident when my grandfather noticed chronic foot ulcers and on further medical investigations, he was diagnosed with diabetes. He got his foot amputated and could not survive because the disease was detected very late. That was a critical moment in my life when I decided to build my career in medical science to find the solution for early detection and cure for the life-threatening diseases. Reading extensively about diabetes enlightened me about the role of biomedicine scientists that research across the disciplines and apply the knowledge to analyse the disease-mechanism thus facilitating significant contribution in human health and disease. This inspired me to become a biomedicine scientist in the future.
I studied Science in XII and biology intrigues me the most, especially learning about human anatomy. Working in a biology lab involved me in designing and conducting experiments together with collaborating with a peer group, thus enhancing my interest in the subject and developing interpersonal, analytical and problem-solving skills. Additionally, I did AED Training & C-CPR certification in June 2017 and Economics For Success-JA Southern Alberta in Oct’ 2016 that inspired me to identify my interest and helped me build strategy to achieve academic and professional success. Having excellent communication skills, I participated in an essay competition and became a finalist in Nov’ 2015. Further, my participation in the Pascal Contest in Mar’ 2017 helped me polish my mathematical problem-solving skills.
Besides Academics, I volunteered in honour of Nelson Mandela in Feb’ 2019 as well as shouldered the responsibility of video recording of wrestling games in my school. My unwavering determination to develop my competence as a well-rounded leader led me to the world of sports where badminton caught my attention. I joined the school’s badminton team and participated in the Badminton Divisional Championships May 2019, securing third place and becoming a finalist together with winning the Badminton City Championship May 2019.
The UK, acclaimed for world-ranking medical schools providing an intellectually stimulating & practice-based education is my most preferred study destination. The universities are renowned for the faculty engaged in cutting-edge research and outstanding facilities.
BSc Biomedical Science at your world-reputed medical school proffers a solid grounding in the theory and laboratory techniques associated with biomedicine and delivers profound knowledge in genetics, microbiology, immunology, biochemistry, and physiology. Your high-specialized course focusing on the key aspects of contemporary biomedicine administers a comprehensive understanding of the human body function at the cellular, molecular, organ and system levels in the context of health & diseases. The eminent alliance of the research scientists, doctors and academic professionals possess a world-wide reputation for teaching & research excellence and innovation in the discipline. The course carries a multidisciplinary approach and establishes insights into the discoveries and the latest developments in the arena of diagnostics, treatment and prevention of diseases. The cherry on the cake is the opportunity of a training period in an NHS lab and learning the lab procedures in the clinical environment under the guidance of the staff with broad research experience that will boost my confidence to excel in biomedicine.
After graduating, my immediate plan is to apply to pursue a master’s research program in biomedicine. I see myself as a biomedical scientist in the next 10 years and this is my firm belief that Biomedical course in one of the leading medical school in the UK will build the pathway for me to undertake medical research in a research institute, take an empirical approach to the practical problems in biomedicine and find new ways to treat and prevent the wide-ranging diseases thus helping the humankind.
